I got Folex, CG Lightning Fast Stain Remover, CG Fabric Clean, APC, Megs Super Degreaser, Megs Wheel Brightener....which one would you think would work best on a coffee stain in carpet? From her description on phone, sounds like there was milk or cream in there too. Sorry no pic, I haven't even seen it yet. I don't have any tannin stain removers yet, but after this I think I'm going to order me some. I read oxy clean may work too...would that be better than the above products?

If you want to properly clean it Tannin is the only way to go. The reason is, coffee is an organic stain and tannin spotters are designed to work on organic stains. In my business we sell our spotters in kits so you get what you need for each type of spot. My co sales people sell these to building service contractors etc. Using the wrong type of spotter or cleaner can actually set the stain vs removing the spot.

Yes, that's what I'm afraid of...a kit is a good idea.

I have had good results with vinegar diluted 1:1 and followed up by APC after for some coffee stains. A tannin stain remover should be acid based.

It could depend on the coffee drinker also. Some people like a lot of cream/milk and sugar.

There should be a Don-Jon retailer in your area

They stock Pro chemicals and can offer you advice

Usually open pretty early, even on Saturday

Since there is milk or cream as stated in the OP, a tannin remover is not a good idea. Not good to add acid to milk or cream......can cause it to curdle.

Better option is an enzyme cleaner. Otherwise a peroxide spotter.

But for black coffee, acid based tannin remover is perfect.

With milk/cream, cold water extraction is a must to prevent future odors.

Great info...thanks to all

What do some of you guys charge for stain removal?

I have found coffee stains to be fairly easy to remove using most any carpet cleaner.

Wheel brightener works well on coffee, then follow with hydrogen peroxide mixed in with apc

Enzyme type cleaners may well work but you really should be looking at a peroxide type bleach if it is bad. There are other ways of doing it but they tend to be rather aggressive - you should never be using strong acids or bases on something like carpet.

For reference, you should not go mixing hydrogen peroxide with other chemicals unless you know what you are at.

Holy cow, Mike Lambert you are using Meg's Wheel Brightener on the interiors of customer's cars??? Or was that whole response a joke?
