I'm finishing some correction on two of my cars (both black) and was wondering which LC pad I should use with my UP. I don't have a white polishing pad but have both the pink (light cut/polishing) pad and the green (polishing/finishing) pad. I just finished with the UC on an orange pad and have good results, just the light buffer haze that can only be seen in direct sunlight.

Thanks Bob, but I'm trying to figure out which of the ones I have now (pink or green) will work. The pink is just above the white pad and the green is just below.

There is no written rule that says which pad you have to use when using a finishing polish like UP. It will depend on what your paint calls for. Having said that, if you have some DA haze that needs to be addressed, you should use a pad with some cut. In addition, since UP itself has light abrasives, I have found even the LCC black pads with UP worked well for DA haze on my car.

Should do a test spot on the car starting from the least aggressive.

I'd try the green pad first on a test spot and see if it takes care of the hazing. If it doesn't - bump up to the pink and see what happens. I also have 2 black cars (both with metallic paint) and Meg's UC/ UP work very well with LC's Orange followed by White pads. What are you going to top with?

I will be following up the UP with an IPA wipedown then applying my Griot's sealant then top with the Griot's Best In Show carnuba wax.

I personally use Megs 6.5" Tan finishing pad and or the 7" Black Finishing pad.

If I want some cut I use either the Megs 6.5" or 7" Yellow pads.

I don't always use white when polishing.
At times I use the CG orange hex pad abd get good results.
If I was me I'd use the pink.
