Hey ya'll,

So i'm getting a new Hyundai i30 (Polar White). Looking at once i get it, clay barring it, wash it, put a sealant on, using Meguires hybrid ceramic spray wax on top then using a Meguires ceramic detailer after every wash after. I live in Australia so a lot of the sealants i see recommended aren't available here. I just want it to protect the paint (I live in a tropical climate; sun/heat/wet seasons etc), along with looking good. I'm choosing between 3D Poxy, Meguires NXT or Wolfgang sealants. The Wolfgang is by far the most expensive, so i'm leaning towards the 3D Poxy. Any tips/recommendations?

Welcome to AGO. :)

The WG is a little expensive, but it will last a lot longer, and is a far superior product.

Thankyou for the welcome and thankyou for the advice :) Now to just find a decent cheap DA polisher for application!

I actually prefer to hand apply my waxes & sealants.

Welcome to the 'Geek. :welcome:

Where will you be purchasing your products from ? If locally, Duragloss and Collinite products seem to be available there, and would be good choices for a sealant (Collinite is advertised as a "wax" but is more like a sealant). Collinite #476 might be the ticket for your climate.

Autogeek used to have an affiliation with a local (Australian) company but I'm not sure if that is still the case.

Autopia currently has Wolfgang SIO2 Sealant on sale for 29.99....3D Poxy is a hybrid, not a true sealant. I just applied the WG SIO2 to my truck and I really like the product. Just remember....some things are expensive because they're worth it

Thankyou, i'm in Australia so the conversion (and shipping) wouldn't work out cheap for me, the only WolfGang sealant I can get here is the Deep Gloss Sealant, which i'm more than happy to pay for if it's worth the money!

WGDG is an excellent product. Tried and true product kind of forgotten about with the explosion of all the Si02 and coatings.

Thanks looks like i'll get the WGDG, don't mind paying more for something if its worth it!

Just applied it to my car this weekend, easy on easy off!

Depending on the weather this weekend, My wife’s white X3 will be next, it currently has Sonax PNS which has been great but want to see how it does on white, it rocks on black!

Welcome to AGO!!!

I’m not a big sealant guy. That being said, Wolfgang DGPS is AWESOME. My favorite sealant by far.
Easy on, easy off and very durable. One bottle also last forever. It’s worth the extra money for sure.

Definitely a "Get what you pay for" product.

Don't you get the NV brand over there? Nova Boost, Nova Jet and one other? I've been dying to try them out. I think you should try them out and post your feedback here! :)

Yes we do have the Nova range, I can't see anywhere though where it states the Nova Jet is an actual sealant?

Remember to apply very thin. That is the key.
good luck and Welcome.

It’s a ceramic spray sealant. Same with Lustre.

Thanks! What's the difference between the 2? I'm after a quality product that will look great, but also protect from dirt / UV

Their website describes both. Your wants list can be handled by a lot of products here. UV protection is argued a lot (what has it, how is it protecting, does it really block UV), but in general all the sealants and waxes and coatings here look great and protect well. WG is a great choice. Probably worth it to check out Nova series though since it may be really cheap to buy in Australia.

I'd say something but Paulmys is stealing all of my thoughts/comments! :)

Opinion time... ceramic waxes work... but IMHO they are more marketing hype then anything else. They don't work any better than 95% of the stuff already on the market. It is just "new". I also think Wolfgang Deep Gloss is the best sealer that I've used (I've tried a _lot_). I have two cars, use it a lot and still have the same bottle from a couple of years ago (thanks to Mike telling me to shake it like my life depended on it). It goes on _super_ thin. Apply it so that you almost cannot tell anything is on the paint. Any more and you are just wasting product.

I also apply wax/sealers by hand. I understand why some people, especially professionals, apply with a machine but I can coat a door in about 20 seconds by hand. I don't think I'd save much time getting out a machine to apply it.
