Hey guys I am in charge of truck detailing for the fire dept. I work for. I was needing to know which wax you would recommend for our trucks? They get waxed probably twice a year and washed every other day. And there are all white. We have been using just cheap autozone turtlewax but it doesn't last.

Klasse or Collinite Double Coat would be what I would suggest since they are white and do not get waxed often.

I think Fuzion would look rather nice on a red rig .... locally they spend alot of time keeping the trucks clean at the old firehouse.

Try a paint sealant like Meguiars NXT Tech Wax / M21 2.0 or Wolfgang Deep Gloss 3.0

Meghan, if you see killrwheels in person, please smack him around a lil bit, okay? Thanks.

mclemore, what about one of the Duragloss products? Their products last for 6 months to a year, they look good, they are very affordable, and they are easy to apply and buff off.

I agree with Meghan, any of the collinites would be great. If just waxing twice a year, I would go for the 476s or 885. If you however picked up some 845, it's ease of use might have you waxing more than twice a year.

I dont get out of Broward much ... guess I considered them all to be red. Never seen Fuzion on white might be nice also :D
Yeh I just figured they were always red lol, white? Maybe there are purple ambulances outside of FL :D

Thats a lot pf surface to cover, need something durable and easy, I'd go with Duragloss 105 for sealant, or one of the Collinities for a wax. 845 would be great, just remember to shake the sh!t out of it before using and apply thinly.

If your talking Klasse SG don't bother, with how finicky it is I don't even like it on a car, let alone something on the surface as large as a firetruck. Klasse AIO is just a chemical cleaner if thats what your talking about. Duragloss 105 and Collinitie 845 both look way better and are way easier to use and just as if not more durable.

All I can say is it is going to take a lot of wax! I've not used Collinite but so many reviews here have stated its durability so I'd vote for that too.

Good luck!

Collinite 845 it will be then. I know we have 25 trucks in total.

Welcome to fellow FF Brother to the AG forum!

Why white units? Volunteer or paid career department?

Where I work, the units get washed by the off-going crew in the morning before they are relieved by the on-coming crew.

Thursday is "truck day" and units are supposed to get a more thorough cleaning, and a more detailed check/cleaning of all equipment-tools-appliances-etc on board.

I have never heard of having one person wax all the units.

Two months ago, I did the following and turned out quite nice on an Engine and a Medic Unit

* Wash with Gold Class
* Hand apply/remove Klasse AIO
* Hand apply/remove Klasse SG
* Next shift hit both units with Collinite 476S

I used MF's to apply-remove-buff.

Using a Porter Cable or other buffer would have worked a lot better, but didnt feel like bringing it to work.

My question is this: why doesnt the crews wax their own vehicles?

Knowing what our apperatus goes through, I would recommend the following for you.

Research and find a good clay bar.
Buy some Optimum No Rinse to use as a QD and Clay Lube.
Clay the apperatus.

Use Klasse AIO for a cleaner, the Klasse SG as a sealer. (use very little, if you think you are not using enough, then you are using the right amount).

Then let the SG set and apply the Collinite 476 (also use very little)

Use MF for all the applications, removing and buffing.

Even with this method, the protection wont last 6 months, let alone 3 months with the bi-daily washing and what the apperatus goes through.

I just bought a gallon of Optimum Car Wax and Duragloss Aquawax. I was going to use them for my use and at the station.

Both excellent spray-on / wipe-off products. They would be great for once a month applications.

Autogeek.net has great deals right now on their "Kits". Their Klasse AIO+SG kit is on sale.

:iagree::goodpost: Duragloss #105 topped off with Collinite waxes, or just Duragloss along.
