To keep my long story short, I've had it with GoDaddy and need to switch - somehow they can't seem to figure out major problems with the mobile version of my site and aren't offering any solutions; plus I'm just overall tired with them and I feel like my site could really use a total refresh.

So, who do you guys use for building your websites and are you happy with them? (I'm not too techie, so need to use some sort of website builder program). The leader in my books right now is Squarespace, as I like a lot of their stuff and they get great reviews, but I'm open to suggestions. Let me know; thanks guys :dblthumb2:

I tried squarespace back when I was doing a photography site. It was kind of limiting so I ended up going with wordpress. It's free and they have free themes. You just pay to have it hosted which isn't that much. I think I may 10$ a month at hostgator.

The reason I suggest Wordpress is even though you may want to keep it simple now, that might change once you get going, You might get the itch to go more fancy(Custom) and the sky is the limit with Wordpress. Start off with one of the millions of free themes and if you want to go a little crazy, you can buy a theme later on. I use the Avada theme and it has been great. My site isn't done yet because as I learn more about building the site I change things. But it's done enough to work. Plus there are tons of plugins and widgets for Wordpress and a lot of them are free.

I have had ipage for about 6 months with no problems. I did have to put up with some calls from them the first month trying to get me to upgrade to more expensive packages. Hate that hard sell stuff. I tried the Wordpress stuff but being completely CPU illiterate I couldn't figure it out. So I built my site with a weebly drag and drop. Super easy to pick out a templet then drag what I want in it. I change my stuff around so often I'm glad I decided to run my own site. I used to pay a guy and that got expensive.

I have had ipage for about 6 months with no problems....but then I built my site with a weebly drag and drop. Super easy

I use squarespace. Very easy to use and they have some great templates..

Wordpress is very easy and intuitive.

I use webs.com. They are ok.

Dreamweaver.

I built my website through Wix and have had no problems so far.

I ended up going with wordpress. It's free and they have free themes.

Well, that narrows it down lol pretty much one vote for everything across the board. I really do appreciate the responses, and it sounds like there are some good options out there. I've decided to hold off temporarily and read a couple books on the subject before jumping in just so that I can be as informed as possible and hopefully get it right the first time around. Thanks again, appreciate the advice, and if anyone else has ideas, or suggestions on great builders I'm still all ears!

Came across this earlier and was wondering if anyone has or is using or opinions....states to be FREE WEBSITE BUILDER Create an online store | Free online store#-#Webnode

Well it depends on how creative you want to get. Dreamweaver and Wordpress will give you the most flexability, wordpress being the easier of the two to work with. I believe with those other sites you are kind of limited to what options they give you, at least with Squarespace I noticed that.

My first site was photography and I went with Squarespace and gave up quickly because it made it difficult to do what I wanted to do. So I went to Wordpress and never looked back.

You could have a wordpress up for no more than the cost of hosting it if you go with a free theme. I think I pay about 10$ a month on hostgator

Weebly

IMO the easiest website builder out there. I actually use it for other businesses websites

Been considering WORDPRESS.ORG still hesitant, have yahoo currently and want more options and designs,a blog and make daily changes to site as needed, ease of use and quickness for a do it yourselfer

I decided to go with squarespace and love it so far. Tons of options but still very simple to use and it's looking really clean so far. Customer support has been really helpful so far in the couple times that I needed their help. Once I get it up and running and the domain transferred over, I'll update this thread.

So far though, I'd highly recommend it.

I've used Weebly for about 4 years now. In the middle of updating/re-sizing my gallery to find a balance of good load times/resolution. I had one glitch while doing a major makeover a few months ago (which ended up being an easy fix) but other than that, it's been great. OKC Headlights - OKC Headlights

Squarespace has been great for me so far. There has been a few finicky things and they recently updated the tools so I had to learn some thing buts for the most part I am happy.
