Hi,

I feel a bit silly for asking this, but first white car I've owned and first time noticing this issue. I regularly wash (weekly or twice weekly) my car, and use Meguiars wax frequently, and more recently, Duragloss clear coat polish. I have noticed that now we're going into wetter months, most times when it rains, while I have great water beading on the car, on the horizontal panels, some of the water spots are yellow (not clear) and they dry leaving horrible yellow spots over the flat panels of the car, roof etc.

I haven't owned the car for long, and first time owning a white car, so not sure why this is happening. The issue occurred both before and after trying the Duragloss, so it can't be that. Where I live (Perth, WA) there is no acid rain or anything that I'm aware of.

Can anyone give some advice please? The car just looks SO terrible as soon as it rains, which means even washing up to 3 times a week is not enough if it's raining every day (i've recently started a mobile detailing business so need my car to look mint ALL the time, since it represents the business). Luckily we don't get a lot of rain here, but still something I'd like to stop from happening if possible!

Thanks in advance :)

No idea, I can't be the only one that has this problem surely :)

Photos would help, but I think it must be something environmental. In other words, I reckon there's either something sitting on the paint that's causing the yellow beads (pollen, dust?) or it's something in the air / the drops themselves are slightly yellow.

Does it happen regardless of where you've parked the car? Are there any other white cars in your family or even in your neighbourhood? Do they get the same problem?

I'll get some photos next time I see it happen. I travel a lot (mobile business) so hard to tell where it's coming from. My guess is might be pollen, I do wash the car at least twice a week, but do a lot of driving and the car is only garaged at night.

This is what I would say as well. I washed my white Tahoe on Sunday, it rained today, and I have yellow spotting on some of the paint and glass. I have 845 as my LSP, so it has nothing to do with your LSP, its just that damn pollen!

Seal the spots over with a coat of a wax and call it

Here in Orlando, it's definitely pollen season, and I don't like it.

Here's an example of almost daily coverage of pollen...ugh...

Hm, yep tho it looked totally different to that, after it had rained, it was like a lot of the water beads themselves were yellow instead of clear, then when they dried, they left yellow circles behind. I'll get a photo next time. Might have to increase washing my vehicle to every second day (from every third) when it rains a lot, to prevent this (recently started my own detailing business, so my car has to look mint 24/7!). I also heard pollen is somewhat acidic so definitely something you don't want to let sit on the paint.

I don't know about acidic, but after having gotten wet and drying on the paint it could very likely become very abrasive (especially to a highly polished finish) and could cause micro-marring (speaking from experience having owned a black Camaro). Personally I compare pollen to those briars that stick to your pants when you walk through the woods, nasty, scratchy and a pain in the butt.

I'd suggest a good flushing with water before touching the paint for a wash to float away a majority of the pollen.

When you wrote, Perth, WA...are you meaning Perth Western Australia, or a city in Washington State?

Bill
