Hey guys, I've heard a lot over the years of " black wax " and how amazing it is, but have never actually seen the results in person, thus never tried it. Recently I heard the term again from a co-worker who was raving about turtle wax's black wax, so I decided to look into it. I see a few options in the store. Mostly ranging from meg's $11.99 black wax, up to black ice for $75.00. I'm looking to use this on my personal vehicles, so the price doesn't really bother me. I'm just after the best.

I like Pinnacle Souverän, but it only last about a month. I normally use Wolfgang deep gloss paint sealant for protection then top it with Pinnacle Souverän. Just remember that you will not get the result you Are looking for if your vehicle is heavely swirled with lots of water spots.

Blackfire Black Ice *****

DoDo Purple Haze *****

DoDo Blue Velvet ****

Blackfire Black Ice:
BBI is a one of a kind, their is nothing else in it's category that even comes close IMHO.

Souveran for dark colors is great. I use Pinnacle Paste Glaz on my Silver Porsche or White BMW. "Black" or "White" waxes are just AIO kinda things. Meguiar's White Wax is a better cleaner and their Black Wax has better polishing abilities

I dont really think there is really a color oriented wax. Technically yes, its black pigment so its suited for black paint but I feel the best way to get a depth and shine out of a car is defect free paint and any quality wax applied after

Just curious, have you used Blackfire Black Ice? I sure wouldn't put it on a white car. That would be like putting black shoe polish on white shoes.

I totally agree with you on the polishing aspects to bring out the shine. But having used over 15-20 different waxes and sealants in the past 4-1/2 years on my car I can say that BBI was one of the top 3 for wetness, depth of shine and reflectivity. And it's like black shoe polish, literally, it smells like Kiwi shoe polish, that's most likely the Montan Wax in it.

It has a black dye in it?

The description states "avoid applying the wax to plastic or rubber exterior trim"
Yet I don't see any of the reviews saying "it stains plastic trim so it's garbage" like so many were saying about Nu Finish not too long ago. Lol.

• I'll take this opportunity to
say the following three things:

1.) "Colored" waxes are nothing more
than disingenuous marketing gimmicks.

2.) Close to 99% of all cars manufactured
nowadays are painted with a BC/CC
paint-system.

3.) Surely no one, nowadays, really
believes that a totally-cured, un-pigmented
Clear-Coat can actually be dyed---i.e.:
"colored"---after-the-fact?!?!

There are alot of fancy big words in the description.. The word Monton sounds like it should be spoken by Ricardo Montalban, the same way he used to pitch "Fine Corinthian Leather" in the late 70's Chrysler Cordoba... That Fine Corinthian Leather was actually manufactured in New Jersey! Lol.

Nevertheless, I wouldn't doubt that the Black Ice Wax does a great job.

Tried the TW Black Wax from their box kit, let's just say there's definitely a reason why two products crowding up that box are spray detailers. That stuff did not want to buff off clean from the paint.

Really enjoyed working with the beta version of Poorboy's Natty's Black, the final formula is out now and available on Autogeek:

Surely, never permanently.... but maybe temporarily yes!!!!

DODO JUICE FORUMS ? View topic - Colour Charging 2... no hype, no BS, just the TEST RESULTS

What I learned from this Dodo Juice thread is that you can use some tinted waxes to create a different effect on your paint. I have never tried it but it is an interesting concept. Black waxes enhance black paint; other colors can add hues and possibly enhance other colors in a metallic paint system.

Someone might have to eat a little crow on this one.

I can say that Pinnacle Souveran definitely darkens paint. I had it on my silver Audi a couple weeks ago and stripped it off to put on Fuzion so I had same-day impressions of the change. There was a very noticeable difference in brightness.
