Will a claybar remove this? Skeptical...

Hello Everyone,

I just recently purchased a motorcyle and I noticed that on the headlight there are two small flecks of tar(?) that have hit the headlight and hardened. I am a perfectionist and want to get rid of them - I have tried buffing and picking it off with a credit card but the little flecks are rock hard and on there good.

Someone else told me that they are certain a clay bar will remove it although I am skeptical as I don't see how a piece of clay will be able to rub down a rock hard piece of tar. I am really tight on money and don't want to buy a $20 piece of clay bar if it isn't going to work although if I know it will remove it I will be glad to do so. I've also tried using goo gone on it which didn't do anything, although I've been told that products such as Turtle Wax's Bug & Tar remover is stronger.

I have attached a photo of the fleck for your reference (photos are large so you can see the detail) - any opinions/ideas are appreciated!

I can't tell from the pics, but if it's on the surface a clay bar will work. I wouldn't spend the money for one though if you don't plan on using it except for that. I'd go by a detail shop and ask them to get it off. I'd take about 20 seconds and they probably wouldn't charge you if you were friendly. I know if someone pulled up to my place, I'd get that off just in hopes they'd remember me when they needed more or told people about me.

first off, if your a real perfectionest, your going to want to sand thoes headlights to make them look new again...now, if you dont want to do that, then yes, the clay will work from what i can tell...also, i have had great success using wd40 on tar as well...spray a microfibre or other type of cloth with some and wipe away...its should melt it down and take it off....
