windshield (or rear) wipers

anyone ever hear of wet sanding using windex not water to revive the rubber blade of the wipers? i mean i know it sounds kinda cheap but im laid off at the moment and i heard of it, and just figured id ask to see if anyone's heard of it or tried it.

I would NEVER use any form of ammoniated window cleaner on any rubber as it will cause it to degrade further...

Sure, it's worth a try, what do you have to lose? I don't know about Windex causing the rubber to degrade, but if you're worried about that just use water with a drop of soap in it to cut the surface tension.

i clean mine with car wash soap every week and then once every few months ill apply something along the lines of 303 aerospace protectant to them and let it soak in then wipe them a bunch of times to make sure i don't get any streaking...also helps to use a sealant or wax on the windshield makes water slide off with ease. 303 does make a wiper treatment product as well...you can also buy the RUBBER of the blades in a big roll i do believe which is way cheaper in the long run then new blades just slide new rubbers in and you are done.i personally just buy new wipers.

yea id prefer to buy new ones too but right now is just a bad time for me to spend any money. i never heard of 303 i'll have to look into it. as far as soap and water i'll give that a shot. i just never heard of using sandpaper though. thx for the input!
