I am having the worst time detailing my cars. It rains, sleets and snows almost weekly. Some times it is so cold I cannot do anything. I bought some cool new products in January but I cannot get to use them for all this weather.
I live in North Carolina it just doesn't do this here. :-(
What tips do the northerners have for taking care of your cars. Your winters last much longer than ours. What products last the longest? I am sad to say I do not have a garage that the would solve everything for me.

Yeah, Up here in Northern PA (which pales in comparison to Wis, Ill, and Mich) it's exactly why I went to coatings for the durability. I'm glad that I did however, as I have fallen in love with the cleaning and appearance properties of the coatings (I used DP's coating on two different vehicles and love it).

If a coating is not for you then I say go with Duragloss sealants. I found them to give a more crystal appearance, but more importantly (to me) more durability than the Klasse Bros. and I put in a quarter of the time in application.

Icing on the cake of a coating or Duragloss for me is BlackFireCrystal or Wolfgangs DGLS (same stuff, diff. label). So easy and durable.

Luckily i have a garage. I spray the salt off then it is rinse less in the garage. Tires and wheels are the toughest to maintain.

from michigan here

I think what alot of us michigan people do is a really good detail in the fall

We do everything, clay bar, wax, polish, sealants etc....b/c once the weather starts to turn crappy (end of october-ish) there really isnt much left for "good" weather anymore

get it done right by the end of october, and then its maintenance washes when you can

Most everybody up here has a garage or barn thats heated...so that helps for thawing and doing maintenance washes

I hate winter :nomore:

ONR is your beat friend during winter. Just tough it out man.
