Hello Mike,

Right now i have Wolfgang Deep Gloss Liquid Seal, Meguiars Tech Wax 2.0 and Ultimate Wax on hand.

I am trying to do detailing on my car and i wanna ask:-

1. After i wash, clay, compound and polish the car, do i need to apply the wax before using Wolfgang Deep Gloss Liquid Seal? Or i just simply apply the seal after polish?

2. i will use the meguiars da power system (DA Power System | Meguiar's), any caution i need to be noticed for beginner as me?

Thank!

All three of them are sealants. So pick one and go with that.

If my car is in white colour , which one you would go for among those 3?

I would say go directly to Wolfgang.

After polishing, do i need to use any product or directly go to Wolfgang?

It wouldn't be a bad idea to use a surface prep product to "clean" the paint first, in case your polish contains any oil(s). That will ensure optimum bonding of the sealant to the paint.

May i know the reason you prefer Ultimate Wax
over Wolfgang Deep Gloss Liquid Seal?
•Rather than Meguiar’s UW:
-If one of the choices would have been Wolfgang
Deep Gloss Paint Sealant (WDGPS)—instead of
WDGLS—I probably would have gone that route.

•Just curious:
-How familiar are you with “wipe-on, walk-away“
last step products (LSPs), such as is WDGLS?

I only have WDGLS on hand. LSP is just either wax or sealant?

If wax , i need to wipe on and wipe off; if sealant as WDGLS, i just wipe on and walk away.

Is it correct?

Many thanks!

Sorry for the late reply. From the time-stamp, looks like you posted this

I was probably still sleeping. :props:

NORMALLY - if you're going to do what's called,

Topping

Here's my article on the topic from 2011

Topping - Definition - How to Top also called Topping

You would apply the "synthetic" product first and then apply the "wax" product over the top of it. The theory being that the was won't dissolve and remove the synthetic product but the synthetic product would dissolve and remove the wax products.

Clear as mud?

Me?

I just pick ONE product and do a GREAT job of applying it.

I wrote the concept paper for Meguiar's NXT Tech Wax in the year 2003. It was page 31 in the report I wrote for upper management at Meguiar's called,

The Zaino Case Study

It was a great product when it came out in the year 2004 and it's still a great product today.

Even though the chemists at Meguiar's tired of me comparing it's lack of extended water beading versus Zaino Z2

Ah.... car wax history...

:)

My pick order would be:
1) WG DGLS
2) Megs Ultimate Wax
3) Megs NXT

That's a topic that has caused a LOT of confusion over the last 15+ years. I've been asked about this topic hundreds of times. And anytime I get asked the same question over and over again - I write an article. And I do my research.

Miscible and Immiscible - Wax and Paint Sealant Bonding

That said - please everyone - do that which you will.

I only have WDGLS on hand.

I'd say use what you have. I've never used that product much? I know some really like it though.

LSP is just either wax or sealant?

I coined this term and our industry went with it... here's my article on this topic,

LSP - The definition and the story behind the term

First - read the directions. When I was the Corporate Writer for Meguiar's one of the things I had to do was write front and back label copy for new products. Part of this job meant I had to make an appointment with one of the chemists and THEY would tell me what the application and removal directions should read because they formulated the product. Logical thinking dictates the chemists would know best how to apply and remove the product since they made the products.

Now I hate to assume - but ASSUMING ALL companies followed this protocol this would mean the best directions for applying and removing any product would be on the label.

That said - I've NEVER been a fan of wipe-on, wipe-off waxes and sealants because in my brain, if i just wiped something on and now I'm immediately wiping it off - it would see that I just wiped it off. Kind of defeating the purpose of the product and also a huge waste of my time.

The exception to the rule would be paint coatings, ceramic, titanium, graphene, quartz, polymer, etc. It would seem that the chemistry behind these is that they bond INSTANTLY to the surface after the surface has first been chemically stripped.

I'm not a chemist, I don't ever pretend to play the role of a chemist on this forum. So follow the directions for any given product and you'll probably be okay.
