I have the usual halogen bulbs on tripods and fluro's mounted to the garage ceiling and while this works ok I was thinking/looking at having a retractable halogen worklight mounted to the ceiling. Having it mounted to ball joints would give me the flexiblity of viewing roofs, high hoods (trucks) much easier and from different angles. Here's a design of what I'm looking for. Before I build my own does this already exist??

Please disregard my mad paint skills lol

Amazingly they don't give any data on the "optional" articulating arm.

There are plenty of articulating lamps, most of them are designed to mount to a bench. You don't specify what kind of reach you're looking for, most of them only have a reach that is "bench-sized".

Thanks,

I've seen plenty of those, guess i'm looking for something more "industrial size and finish" and that can be ceiling mounted so my dimensions are much larger then say a desk mounted lamp.

Sorry, the "long reach" ones I was able to find are in the 46-53" range.

Do a google search for PDR light stands. They are essentially lights mounted to a rolling cart. There are ones that adjust about every way you can imagine. I'm seriously considering purchasing one myself!
