I had my worst month so far this year but im still trying to remain calm in this sinking boat lol. I also feel like as each day passes im becoming rusty at what I do. So far for April I've maybe done 4 cars max. Its all this 40mph wind gusts and rain. :(
Im hoping May brings me better luck.

From your posts it looks as though you just started in February (correct me if I'm wrong). It's only April? No clue why you would feel defeated. You're not going to build a successful biz in 2 months.

I bought $3000 worth of stuff.

Still don't have one customer.

Don't sweat the small stuff.

Hit up small car lots. $5 a car w/ ONR/waterless wash

simple wipe down of tires with towel, dress tires, no undercarriage, wash car, windows cleaned, done. Should take you 10 minutes per car

I understand that and that's why I said im trying to remain optimistic.

Don't be so hard on yourself you just starting out on this long journey some people in the same boat only gets one or two customers you got four(you are very lucky) you will have good and bad days even fast and slow ones too think of it like this all that rain and dirty wind is a blessing is disguise cause once its clear away you gonna wanna disconnect your phone cause you will have so many customers you wont even know who to serve first....good luck Abram86

Technique will trump product every time. So make some money and reinvest a little at a time to better your arsenal.

Whaaat, these are the hackers that are killing it for the rest of us. $5 are u serious...?

Going to be not so nice! It takes a few years to get a steady customer base! You guys just starting out need to need to under stand this and think its going to happen in a few months. I've said this way to many times took me 2 years to get booked out 6 weeks. Do you have a website,Facebook, listed on search engines? Its getting kinda old so many people starting up a detail business and not under standing it takes a long time to build a new detail business.

Sorry to hear that, I just got a job right now and finally able to pay my bills since I had my cellphone shut off....here in Cali lately has been windy and today out of nowhere it was about 80 degrees and it will be more like this next week. Summer time is the gold mine for auto detailing!

Hang in there. It's been a rough past 4 months for me too. Work is finally starting to trickle in after our long hard winter. Sometimes it all comes a little later but it will come. Trust me.

Not saying its the best work of all time. OP clearly wants to make money and in the beginning stages of business, you can't really say no to any jobs

and if he wants to get a website and other things, then he needs to make money to invest it back in his company to make more money

I'm not referring to big name dealerships. I'm talking about the lots that have ~20 cars for cash. $100 in 3.5 hours of work= ~$29 an hour.. its simple work and it will give him a bit of cash do try other things for his business

I understand that hence why im fighting thru this slow time. My problem is that the customers dont think they need a detail so often.

Most my customers come back ever 2 months for a complete detail again which is my money maker. You will get there just do great work and people will come. Most of all honest don't sell them something they don't need. I will not ever sell paint correction to some who is going to use an automated washes. I know a lot of guys on here sell paint correction and I wonder how many are selling paint correction with out educating their customers. I can't see any reason to sell paint correction to some who is not going to take care of it after spending $600 on their car. I fell your stealing their money!
