Worth Buying this Wool Pad

Looking to step up my correction work quality with my Flex 3401. Was looking at buying wool cutting pads. These worth the $20 price tag? Want cutting wool not polishing wool.

They are exceptional on a rotary polisher. I've read post from several guys that had a great experience with them on the flex 3401 as well. Have you used the Hybrid Wool pad? While I do think the lambswool pad cuts a little bit more, the Hybrid wool might be a good compromise considering they are almost half the price.

You may get micro-marring when using fiber pads on any orbital - depends on the paint and abrasive technology.

So plan on doing a foam pad step if needed.

mike your post got me thinking... over the pond it seems they like to use wool pads with DA's more favorably than microfiber pads (looking on videos on YT). in the video below it's like they are using a thicker/denser wool pad on a free spinning traditional pc-style DA. if you notice the backing plate, it's barely spinning and the overall results look pretty good...


 
To the OP,

A resounding YES to getting this pad for a 3401. It is by far my favorite cutting pad for the 3401- very smooth and has the ability to finish LSP ready on some paints (even with M100 and HD cut+ in my trials). Haven't tried it on a PE14 yet, but I imagine it is fantastic on there as well.

I just used it again this morning on a very oxidized '61 Malibu and it did wonders in cutting through that oxidation and restoring incredible clarity to the bc/cc repaint.
 
From the first Youtube link it's a company from Sweden where I live. The guy who owns it putting together his own blend of products and then sells under the name of the compound you see. This is a new heavy cut compound that they who have used it says it cuts a bit more than fg400 and it finished down a bit better too. It's only available in 1 liter but releases soon in 250ml and then I'm getting me some of it. The red pad I have that, is a twisted wool blend with wool and acrylic material and cuts really great with my 21mm longthrow polisher. You do have to do a second step with a foam pad and I have that pad to and it's a medium cut polishing pad who is very dence. That works great with fg400 as an 1 step. Only thing with the red wool pad is you have to dry run it on the polisher outside before you use it or else you have red threads all over the place. Many detailers and enthusiasts is starting to use the compound now. The red pad is quite cheap at a price of 8$ for the 5"

Great to hear about those $20 wool pads. I also just ordered LC Hybrid wool pads. I see that when comes to paint correction work, the wool pads is where its at over the foam pads.

I did also learn to my past mistakes, that make sure you buy the cutting wool or MF pads. Not the wool or MF for polishing.

I assumed the wool and MF pads only came for cutting but man, was i wrong. Lol View attachment 60790
