Don't know if anybody is a doctor on the forum or knows something about watches.
I have been wearing a wrist watch for a couple of years now. I had my watch too tight at one point, so I loosened it and it was fine, I then tightened it and took it off for a while . My skin now has an indentation or the watch is looser. I don't feel any other problems with myself, but I just wanted to know if I should get it checked by a doctor. I have loosened the watch , but I don't know if it will help.

Any ideas ?

Nothing to worry about. If you have good capillary refill and no vascular or sensory or functional issues with the intrinsic muscles of the hand then what you are dealing with is subcutaneous remodeling or a temporary process called hysteresis.

so basically in non doctor lingo, my skin is recreating itself where it was killed off ? I feel fine other than the indentation . I'm just scared because there was dead skin on my old watch

You have dead skin coming off all the time--it's how bloodhouds track you and the main component of household dust. Detail your watchband and stop worrying.

Our bodies are in constant state of dying and regeneration. You basically (under normal circumstance) shed the outer layer if epidermis (outer skin layer) every 7 days. This is accelerated through exposure (mechanical, chemical, environmental). Our bodies have huge abilities to adapt (repair and regeneration, collateral bypassing etc...).

The process you describe is the same as the "wedding ring" effect. Cheating spouses can try and take their rings off but the indentation, pigment difference or skin texture difference will always give then away.

People still wear a watch? :) I haven't worn my watches in a few years, ever since I got a smart phone. I hated my Rolex Oyster for the same reason... it was too damn heavy and left dents in my wrist. Now I can glance at my smart phone and get the time, weather, news, sports and email with no dents left behind. ;)

It also doesn't require me to take it off every tine I detail.
