Hi everyone.

Rarely is a totally new and innovative product seen in car care circles, but we think we've really pulled the dodo out of the hat with this one... the ultimate gift for detailers and car lovers everywhere... the HOME BREW WAX KIT.

You know how Dodo Juice started on a stove and how we're one of the few brands actually making our own stuff. You know how Dodo Juice helped Ben at Rubbish Boy's bring his homebrew to market, and how we are now going to distribute Bouncer's 22 Home Brew wax worldwide via our independent wax label. Well, because of these things, we felt it natural to make a kit that allows you to achieve professional wax making results using just your stove at home. Homebrewing is fun, rewarding and useful - you have a great product at the end - plus it teaches you a little about waxes themselves.

So what is the Home Brew Wax Kit?

Simply put, it enables the lucky recipient to make a high performance Dodo Juice wax using just their stove at home… the wax ratios, solvents and special juices have all been calculated, measured and prepared beforehand. Just mix the contents together, heat up and stir… the next day you’ll have 250ml of premium carnauba car wax in a jar you can name yourself.

Whilst it has been a couple of years in development (some kits we assembled early on would have been too complicated or have yielded inferior results), we are launching now, ready for Christmas. Because we know it will make a great gift for detailers and non-detailers of most ages - it is suitable for everyone over the age of 14. If someone loves cars, they'll probably love this DIY car wax kit. Cars and DIY? It has 'gift for dad/son/brother' written all over it... and it introduces them to detailing, which can't be bad.

The wax itself is unique to the Home Brew kit, with a wonderful honey scent to emphasise the beeswax ingredient and an olive colour. It is made in and applied from one of our original 250ml style glass jars (uniquely coloured). You can even customise the name... 'Dave's Delight', 'So Glossy It Hurts'... whatever tickles your fancy.

The kit comes in a beautiful presentation tin with a foam inner housing the necessary ingredients, stirrer and instructions. All you need is access to a hob or stove and a saucepan. And in theory, there's no clearing up to do either.

Price is 39.95 GBP, and you get 250ml of professional grade wax at the end of it.

We hope you like this new product as much as we do. A lot of thought and attention has gone into every aspect of the kit, from the glass jar that doubles as a melting pot, to the label kit and custom tin. We feel there’s no better product to reflect the spirit of Dodo Juice and what are currently doing within the car care market.

And yes before anyone ask we will be carrying this very soon! ;)

Looks like I just added another item to my Christmas list.

This definitely piques my interest. If for nothing else I could see this being a valuable collectable in years to come, not that home brewing a wax wouldn't be fun.

Clever thread title.......And clever idea! :dblthumb2:

How old would the Tracy's be by now?
Did they ever get to leave "The Island"?

have to be honest, wasn't sure too many would get that one Stateside 8)

Very unique! Are there multiple "recipes" included so you can yield different results based on preference, or is it just an "add all of part A to all of part B" deal?

Awww man, this kit looks awesome!

Have to add this my Christmas list too. Im the MAN

Looks like I found what I am getting myself for X-Mas! Very cool!

wow! now that is different! :xyxthumbs: the ultimate christmas gift for the detail nut! Im the MAN

Not sure what to think of this...if this is just mixing the carnauba with the carrier solvent then I am underwhelmed...because that would be of limited value.

A system that allows for tweaking of multiple factors like: gloss, depth, cleaning and durability would peak my interest.

Aw man this kit looks pretty interesting. I can see numerous posts where people make small adjustments to the base recipe. :-)

Imagine someone adding 845 of Optimum Spray Wax to the recipe while it is cooking? hehehe

we have calculated and measured out the ingredients to a set recipe in order to make sure that everyone gets a good quality, usable wax. for comparison purposes - it is like a non color-charged Straight Eight Hard Wax (Hard Candy). we recommend that you follow the instructions and use the ingredients provided - BUT - basically it is your kit; you add change or modify to your heart's desire.

unfortunately, this kit does not instruct on the subtleties of targeted feature wax production - for obvious reasons 8) but as described above, it is possible for the buyer to experiment on their own. i have been making waxes for a while now and i have to say i did enjoy getting back to the roots in my own kitchen and finessing the development to produce this kit. and i think there are others out there that will have the same enjoyment. granted, it might not be for everyone.

Thanks for the info...I am more than a bit of a lab geek so I love to experiment and tweak. Any plans for a future kit with some tweaking guidance and/or additional ingredients (e.g. polymers etc.)?
