Shaking my head....

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rNY9Dx617N8&feature=related]PlastiDip a WHOLE CAR - How-to by DipYourCar.com - YouTube[/video]

A guy I work with is planning on doing this to his car. After he saw how it held up on his wheels, he's sold.

It's not for me, personally. It just doesn't go down smooth enough unless reduced and sprayed properly. In that case you might as just re-spray with a proper matte paint.

I guess I'm just old school...but the whole matte finish thing just screams PRIMER at me...those guys who could just never get their hot rod finished.

I did plasti dip on my old wheels and they looked great when they were clean. You wouldnt have known that they werent powder coated if you didnt know about the plasti dip.

I understand people plasti dippin their grille's or wheels but NOT the WHOLE CAR!!!

The very first Car Condom!
Thats freakin hilarious Bobby!!!

Why not. Doesn't destroy your paint. Better than vinyl in terms of cost and ease of applying and removing.

I've got my wheels plasti dipped and they look great, and it's totally reversable for when I sell the car. Personally I wouldn't want to do an entire car, but I can see why this is popular. Now anyone can pretty much paint their car in their driveway, and have pretty good results. I honestly think it's pretty cool.

I just saw this video a couple days ago because I plan on Plasti Dipping my wheels and grill. They claim it will last over a year, but for $5-7 a can i don't mind re applying. Plus if I don't like the look of it I can just peel it off.

Now painting your car with it, why would you ever do that.

I'd plasti-dip wheels, grills, little accessories on my car but the whole car itself? lol thats pretty funny

I like how he's all concentrating as he sprays OUTSIDE in the open..I'm sure you don't get any trash in it that way...haha.

I don't see anything wrong with doing this if that's the look you're going for. It's easily reversible and looks easy to apply. I just wouldn't do it outside in the open like that.

I like how it highlights the dent on the hood about 22-23 minutes in . What will the door jambs and other jambs look like when you open the doors etc....

I like the flat black look on some cars, it looks very aggressive and it can be pulled off if done right with other accents to make it look like it isn't just a primer job.

I too have seen that video recently and actually thought it was pretty cool.

Wait a second. Stop the presses. I went to the website on that guy's shirt and it says you can use CLEAR plasti-dip as a "clear bra"....hmmmmm.

Couldn't agree more. What a waste of a perfectly good Audi finish...

I will say, it's an interesting process. If someone had an old beat up camaro or similar that had a real poor finish, this might be an intriguing option. But an Audi..?!?

The only time I absolutely love a matte finish is on Harley's. I've been eyeing a Harley fatboy for awhile now and love the matte look on it. The only other time I've seen a car in a matte look is the Bugatti. Badges, grilles, and wheels can sometimes looks real slick. But not an entire car.

When I picked up my new car, the dealer showed me Will Arnett's factory matte silver S550. It looked pretty cool, I actually really liked it. I just saw a matte black S550, didn't like it as much as the silver.
