"Your a nerd!"

Those were the words I heard while I was detailing the Civic today lol. I was stunned but made me laugh, and also made my day haha. I think they said that, cause I had my distilled water in the bug sprayer then had the camera set up. But from a far distance when the two little girls said that, they looked like they were probably around the age of 16.

I gave them a thumbs up, but I should've said "No i'm a autogeek!" haha.

Anyways, my first pics will be up tomorrow. 2002 Black Civic. I used Pinnacle Shampoo, Schmitt, 2 bucket method/grits, XMT, PC, and Opti-Seal. Then I might use Pinnacle Souveran wax tomorrow, not sure..might be over doing it.

Anyways, anyone get any weird looks detailing? or anything said? Its like they didnt understand what I was doing..

That show cracks me up with some of the wackos on there...you know she was 13..."uhhh I was just comming over to make sure she was safe.."...love seeing their ass pummled to the ground when they walk out.

i get that all the time...when i tell people i detail cars as a side job they give me that look like "so you wash and wax cars?" and i have to explain to them it goes much deeper than that....and when i explain to them how much goes into car detailing as opposed to the local swirl and wash thats when i get the "you're a nerd look".... then i just tell them to look at my 3 year old 350z and point out to them there is a reason it looks better than showroom new...and then we set an appointment :)

Yeah my wife did that when she saw I had the water filter hooked up to the garden hose.... I can't bring myself to use a leaf blower to dry the car yet though....

Whenever I am testing a product and I want to get pics for the forum or website, I do the detailing in my driveway. Pull out all of the products and my camera and an extra body so I can have someone demonstrating in the photos... neighbors do not know where I work so they gawk at me. :o If they knew I was an Autogeek they would understand, but no sense in telling them, if I did they would want to come steal my Souveran!:p

I'm always detailing my cars and taking pictures. My neighbors are always making comments. Some of them think I'm crazy and some of them just keep trying to get me to detail there cars.

My girlfriend saw my cabinet full of detail supplies, and then called me an obsesive loser. Between that and the working on the car, I guess she has a small point.:D

She also didn't understand why I would need 3 diffrent kinds of soap. :awesome:

^^^Same here. And the one I hear most, "Didn't you just do that?"
The funny part is that most of them follow the lead so this nieghborhood has shiney cars.

Yeah i'm 20. But some say I look younger :(

I'm sure my neighbors thought I was slightly off my rocker when they saw me using the detachable shop-vac blower to dry my car with the doors, hood & hatch open. Once I was done though, I just drove the car a little bit down the driveway to show off the shine. I'm sure they shut up then.

:D

Very true!! This time the guy stopped and said, "the birds are just going to crap on it again, you know". I told him that I knew, but that bird crap was also acidic and eating away at my paint. He asked me what I used on my Explorer. Told him I had Collinite on it. He didn't know what it was, but told me that I needed to use Mothers wax, like he does on his truck. I wanted to tell him that my Collinite easily outlasted his Mothers, but I didn't feel like explaining. This is the same guy that walks by every weekend, while I'm washing both cars and says, "didn't you just wash them last week?"
