Dear Friends

What do y'all carry with you, if anything, for detailing your own vehicles when you're on the road?

Take a family vacation as an example. You're going to be away three to seven days. Do you pack some detailing supplies? If so, which ones? What do you use to carry these supplies?

Pretty much just UWW+ and some MF (for bugs and bird bombs).

Poorboy's Bug Squash, glass cleaner, MF towels, quarters for car wash, gas card.

Dear Michael & Rick

Thanks for responding. What do you use to store these items in your vehicles? I splurged on one of those Kwazar spray bottles and love it, but it looks like it might leak if turned over and if it had some weight on top of it. So if you're using those or lesser sprayers, it seems like something water-resistant might be a good idea.

I just carry a bottle of Meg's QD spray, and some microfibers.

Dear Ben & Ryan

Thanks for responding.

Thanks for the link, Ryan.

I use HD sprayers. Have a screw-on top that fits. Put the sprayer in when I need to use it.

Dear Michael & Mark

Thanks for responding.

Mark, that seems a little heavy on product to my inexperienced eyes. By the time you add microfibers to that kit, it seems that your kit would be a little large.

Dear Ryan

Autogeek Tote Bag.

The Griot's bag is larger and less expensive, but since I have no experience with either this bag or the Autogeek cooler tote, I don't know which one might be the better carrier for on-the-go detailing.

It depends how much space you have in your vehicle to place either one of these bags. With the Griot's you will be able to fit more items into the bad unlike the AG Tote Bag. I never knew Griot's had a bag like this. But it seems like it is a better buy than the Autogeek one.

Here is mine

Check it out around Christmas time at Walmart and different Megs kit Target. I will be going to LA (lower Alamaba) Florida border Jan 13 but will pick up my kit down there.

Good point!

Bags: Griot's, Wolfgang, AutoGeek, etc., are quite similar :)

OK, Jaddie....How much room do you have; that is, what vehicle do you use for vacations, etc. Thanks. (I've got a couple of extra car-care-products "totes" laying around that just might foot the bill)

:)

thats an excellent question! and i have another to go with that question: when keeping sprays/cleaners with you for while your on the road, doesnt the stuff go bad if its kept in the trunk during the cold/heat?

Good point. Now with colder weather and winter will be here next month, Those of us in the Northern states have to be concerned about most of these items freezing up on us.
Just took my Ultima Waterless Wash, window cleaner and other liquid products out of the trunk.

Well, for the past seven or eight years we took my wife's Lexus ES300 on road trips, but now that we have a three-year-old son, space is at a premium in her car.

We just bought a new Honda Odyssey and have a lot more room, but I wouldn't want to be tempted to spend too much time detailing when I should be spending time with my wife and son.

But when traveling on Georgia's coast or through South Georgia and North Florida during the summers, bugs are a real problem and I just hate to see these (to me) high-dollar vehicles decorated with their remains.

Thank you very much for responding.

My son just hollered for me to take him some "goo," (PediaSure), so that means my time on the computer is done for the evening.

I look forward to chatting with y'all tomorrow.

Thanks to all who responded. If you have a question about Macs, iPhones, iPads, digital SLR cameras, Photoshop, or Lightroom, please give me a chance to pay you back.

On vacations: I'll take the products bag into the room upon check-in.
Road trips: If it happens to becomes a have-to- stay-over-nighter, same as the vacation. If not, removal when I get back home

I try to never leave products in any vehicle overnight...just saying.

I've found nothing detrimental has happened, (and I don't believe I've ever killed), any beloved car-care-products when toting them around for a few hours in the trunk. Same goes for products inside a vehicle's cockpit.

[Disclaimer: The above vehicle trunk storage/toting around method may not apply for "some other items", though beloved, they might be, or not! :D Im the MAN

:)
