I thought this may be interesting to discuss.

I remember the first time I was actually "Wowed" in amazement by a particular wax. At this particular time, I was pretty new to waxing and only knew of the over the counter products.

The first wax I ever used was Turtle Wax Hardshell paste, while it looked good I was not "Wowed", but it was enough to hook me on waxing.

The first time I was amazed by a wax was with my 1991 Nissan 300Z. It was black metallic, nice curvaceous body structure, just a gorgeous car. Megs had just introduced the Gold Class line, I picked some up because the black Mercedes on the front looked good, and I had heard of Megs before.

I rushed home to lay it out on my car, when I buffed it off I felt like I could swim in my hood. I was absolutely amazed at the depth, glow, reflection, feel-just all out in love with this wax. I couldn't believe how it made my car look-it was awesome!

To this day, I have yet to "Wowed" on that level. I am pretty sure that is due to the fact that the Gold Class was the first time I had experienced such depths and I had nothing to compare the results, and really wasn't expecting it. I am still rigorously looking for the absolute perfect wax to relight that fire the Gold Class gave me.

So, what was your first "Wowed" wax?

The first wax to wow me was Natty's red (left my truck dripping wet). Now I stll use it but have moved on to Souveran and Fuzion and I'm going to try Swissvax next.

Not really considered a wax, but #7 was my first true love :hungry:

Mine was and still is ClearKote's Carnuba Moosewax. Easy on, easy off, no dust and a super shine.

My first "WOW" wax was NXT 2.0. I was amazed on how it made the paint pop. Before this, I was mainly using Mother's Carnauba Paste wax and Meguiar's Gold Class Carnauba Wax. I think it's the synthetic pop that made me say WOW.

Back in the 1970's I tried a wax called "Excalibur"...it was a true paste wax and cost the then humongous sum of $5.00! I used it...it took all day and a lot of sweat, but the result was wonderful. It looked better than any other wax I had ever tried.

In about a month, the beautiful finish was gone and water no longer beaded up from the car's weekly washing...and this was garaged car that didn't see bad weather. It simply wasn't worth the effort.

For years I used Meg's Gold Class, then I tried Griot's Best of Show Wax and then I knew what "WOW" factor was. I also used Pinnacle Souveran on a Torch Red car, and again..."WOW"!

Between Griot's and Souveran, I'm quite happy with how they look. Maybe one day I'll find something better, but I'm not counting on it anytime soon.

Meg's gold class for sure, had so many oils in it you could tell if you missed a spot and it won me my first car show so I think it wowed the judges aswell :) dunno if it's changed over the years this was back in the very late 90's

Not a wax, but my first WOW was from a WOWA, UPGP! Still wows me and its so easy!

Meg's Deep Crystal paste back in the early 90's. I'm pretty sure it was just a consumer variation of #16, very similar looks and amazingly hard to remove if you put on too much.

After using gold class for a while I was really "wowed" by NXT 2.0.

Although I dont use it anymore, it impressed me when I first used it.

Hey Gunslinger...Look what I still have in my arsenal of detail products!!! I actually used this last year on my car---still good after all these years. :xyxthumbs: (In fact I seem to hang on to my car care supplies longer than I do the ex'es.) LOL

Note: PM sent

First time I polished my car I finished it with Klasse then topped it with Souveran and I don't think my car can look any better. I still have to try my mini fusion, sig II, p21s and max max.

I think I should of worked my way up to Souveran. Maybe something other wax will change my mind.

Gunslinger and FUNX725 listed Excalibur from the dark ages of waxes/sealants which was one of my first WOWs although Raindance when it was a 2-part system truly wow'd me. I thought it was aptly named also, rain seemed to dance off the finish once it had hardened.

I've used Collinite products for more years than I want to admit...it used to be the best well kept secret in the car business (no longer)...and I'm still WOWed by how great their waxes look, and how long they last. 2x a year, and I'm golden.

It's still my choice of wax here in the NorthEast.

sig series was my first. AWESOME wet look. then souveran gave my paint a deep gloss. which i like best.

I have been waxing my various cars over the years and was satisfied but not excited about the results. For sure it had to do with the surface prep techniques that I improved over the years and now that I have a black non-metallic car when it's properly preped and waxed it really shines. On my black car I tried several waxes but the first real wow effect is when I used the Autoglym HD wax. I couldn't believe the results. Paint was like melting on the car.

Since then I have tried the Pinnacle Souveran liquid and paste wax and also the Wolfgang Fuzion and they give excellent results and are much easier to apply and buff than the Autoglym wax. It's just that the Autoglym gave me the first wow effect and I would recommend that wax to anyone that don't want to spend the premium prices of the Souveran and Fuzion. I'm conviced the Autoglym HD wax gave me equally results as the Souveran and Fuzion.

on the uk detailing site they had a huge wax test and preped like 5 cars the same color/year ect. and used all different waxes a blind test and they all looked very similar .. its all in prep . but carnuaba does warm it up a bit add a touch to the paint gloss ect

Thats funny Jim! Thats actually exactly what I was going to say.

By the way: Congratulations!
Some how I had a feeling you would share my opinion. Thanks for the congrats. As an alum, I didnt think I would ever see Auburn win a National Championship!
