What do you guys do to make a silver car pop out? I find this such a difficult color to really show itself.
I always tend to grab Carpro reload for this. Used wolf's bodywrap too, but never overly impressed by the result.

So how do you do it guys?

Paint it Candy Apple Red. Other than that I got nothing ;)

Having two silver cars I've learned a few things:

1. Even if it doesn't look as good as black, it's still way easier to maintain than black.
2. I find the glassy look of an acrylic product is most conducive to silver. Reload, 845 and PBL coating booster also provide a similar look.
3. View at a shallow angle with the sun behind you, this can be tricky if your client is tall or needs to drive in a southerly direction.

I polished my hood the other day to remove some marring and just for fun I stuck 2 coats of Dodo Juice Hard Candy on it. I thought that made it pop pretty well.

Here's these as well:

Silver here. Seems to look good with Klasse Twins and 845. Duragloss AW spray waxes and Optimum Gloss enhancer brings out the flakes.

Anyone ever glazed and waxed a silver car?

Use a sealant or coating you like, nuba adds depth and you just don't need that with silver, its all about POP! I'd say that prep work is especially important to bring out the very best before its sealed up.

My first new car was a Contour SVT, silver frost metallic and I added a pair of metallic dark blue racing stripes to it, that made it stand out for sure!

Yes, I have.

-Glaze:
3M Imperial Hand Glaze

-Wax(es):
3M Show Car; Meguiar's M26; Meguiar's Ultimate Wax (paste & liquid); Pinnacle Sig. Series II; OCW; SON1C's CARNAUBAVORE; many, many others.

:iagree: Almost exact same method except I don't use Duragloss or Optimum. I was thoroughly impressed with Klasse and 845. Although, I put on two coats of KSG (12 hrs apart) and a week later, I used 845. I've never seen a shine like that on silver.

For my silver SUVs I use sealants:

Wolfgang 3.0 and/or spray sealant
Aquawax
megs d156
CG V7
Megs ultimate
Fuzion
AF tough coat spray

all of which help the silver to pop. Car wont look really good till you're outside in full sun tho.

Silver, the color with the least amount of pigment can be buffed to perfection if in good shape and not faded. I myself use a wool pad and let the Sun be my guide, if not too warm a day. I could show you easier than explaining it. I would optically perfect the surface removing all surface imperfections, then seal at a higher speed than normal. By that time, it didn't only POP, it exploded!!! Silver Glows when it is "Jeweled" correctly. "Paintxpert" "InvisibleGarageProtection" Since 1969

Try it and let the Sun be your guide. Im not talking real direct Sun, but enough to be your guide as you perfect and smooth the surface. You really have to have a good feel for rotary buffing or any attemp will be, lets say unforgiving, for lack of a better word. Good Luck!

In my opinion, every color may benefit of a finishing step, including silver.

Even if you do a compounding step and finish great on silver, try to use a finer polish and that will give you an edge to the missing shine.

My suggestion is written in this forum in form of a thread, I invite you to take a look on my recent work on silver using Menzerna SF4000 (a finishing polish, like I've suggested).

Hope that gives you some ideas,

Kind Regards.

I have to say for me its high content carnauba wax that looks best on my challenger. That's of course after solid prep and polish.
