I could use a little help with waxes; the forum has added so many! I used Pinnacle on my vette and on the prius, but the prius and our van don't need show wax.
Advice on wax for all three, please?
And is Zymol any good?
Is all clay created equal? I just did our 2010 white prius and grabbed mother's clay kit from az ....I know....... I have the older model pc.
Thank you!Feed back please:xyxthumbs: Lauren

IMHO Zymol is overpriced. Pinnacle is great for all 3. This is a good value clay: Griot's Garage Paint Cleaning Clay, Griots Detailing Clay Bar, Auto Detailing Clay, Griots Garage Clay Bar

Is there any signifant difference in the clay? meaning is there a special one for fancier cars, for lack of a better term.... my neighbor has a red c-4 and he swears by griots.

pinnacle - can it take weather and useage? the prius goes like 60 miles per work day and our van is no longer garaged.

thank you lots john. thank you anyone else too. trying to get back in the swing when I left griots was still on its own.
lauren:props: thanky lots all and johnFeed back please

Collinite, Megs #26 for your van and Prius. You cannot go wrong with Mother's hybrid or pure carnauba wax products either. And OCW is not a slouch as an LSP either believe it or not.

Pinnacle's Ultra Poly clay is very mild compared to Wolfgang and others. So you would use this clay on a vehicle that is well cared for. For a DD, you should go for a straight-up mild clay. There are aggressive clays out there as well but unless you are doing some extreme driving you wouldn't need it.

You'll have to be a bit more specific on Zymol being overpriced, especially if you're comparing it to Pinnacle Souveran - Zymol Glasur, which is very, very highly regarded over on Detailing World, is sold by Amazon for $101 - just $6 more than Souveran. There are a number of Zymol waxes that cost less than Souveran as well.

I own the Zymol Carbon wax ($50), but it doesn't last very long and the looks is just "nice", nothing like "wow!"...

Collinite 915 is FAR superior, I bought it after reading this review here, and it's by far one of the best!

okay first of all, I am female. #2, I kept up my cars but haven't been in the detailing world in years - and there is so much new stuff here and in places like az.
the van sits in the elemets,
the prius does heavy driving.

the vette has 20k on her yes I bough it new in Aug 2006 - but that gets all the "good" stuff.

So what clay fr the first two?
And Zymol - which one? I even saw one in AZ and was surprised, but that's bottom tier. Thank you all - can anyone expound? The more I learn and re-learn the better.
Thanks, Lauren:buffing:

Yes and no...

1. "Yes", because all clay bars sold in the USA are made by ONE company, the one who holds the rights to manufacture it...

2. "No", because you can always get some Riccardo clay in Canada... By far the best clay money can buy... But you won't find it in the US because of.. you know..

What you do have is mild or aggressive clays... An aggressive clay will remove more contaminants, but also cause some marring, which is not a problem if you plan following up with a polishing step.

I only use Riccardo Blue and Meguiar's Mild clay, both top quality.

Thank you; I had forgotten that about the clays!! That is exactly why I came back. You are right. I guess the Collinite is worth a try or would you stick with Pinnacle for my baby? In my avatar you can tell I do not neglect her, but she is NOT perfect.

You didn't mention what Pinnacle you have, liquid or paste..
Liquid looks better on blue and light colors... Paste looks better on darker paints.

Just use it up, and give Collinite 915 a shot when you run out of Pinnacle.
With any Collinite wax, less is better, the ideal is to apply it with a DA and Blue pad... The pad must be a little damp, like 3 squirts of Quick Detailer to moisten the pad. Apply it super thin and wipe it off before moving on to the nest panel.

When I say Detailing World, it was in reference to a specific detailing forum, the UK forum Detailing World. As I said, Zymol Glasur is very highly regarded over there, so much so that I bought it myself during a Zymol sale last year. I've only had a chance to use it once, so far, but it has shown good durability on the car I applied it to, was easy to use, spreads really far, and looked good as well.

Also as mentioned, 915 is hard to beat, with regards to price, durability and looks. I prefer to apply paste waxes by hand, and as long as you apply with overlapping strokes, and really, really thinly - to the point where there's barely any residue that can be seen - you'll have no issues with removal.

Have you used Bilt Hamber clay? I rate it very highly - even more so than the Opti-Clay I have, which I believe is the same Erazer clay as Riccardo.

Zymol Glasur is nice, but if you apply it too heavy it's hard to remove. However, I would reccomend Fuzion. Aplication and removal are so easy and it looks great. It's kind of a wax / sealant hybrid.

Hi Lauren! You've been away long :) I feel your confusion.

I actually find the Zymol waxes really good, I still reach for Glasur when I want some nice looks and durability (for a wax). As what the others suggested, you can also look into 915 for all your cars, or a sealant like Finish Kare 1000p. There are so many awesome waxes with differing variables it's hard to choose! lol

Thanks again bw - I have the Pinnacle paste. I will try the Collonite next. May I ask, what about it do you like better? The shine, the application, how long it lasts, etc? Your opinion is valued. :xyxthumbs:

yah you said it! it's become overwhelming! I want a high high shine for the vette. everyone says collinite 915 so it seems that must be my next purchase!!

thank you - I appreciate it. I am also surprised you remembered me. Really?:dblthumb2:

hi francis, how can I get some?

Unfortunately, due to the Clay Magic patents, it's illegal to sell it to anyone in the US. You can have a friend bring it for you from the UK, but barring that, don't see how you could get it over there :(

Francis

Hey just because the Prius only has 1/4 the horsepower of the Vette doesn't mean Souveran isn't right for it! :p Souveran is known for being a high-end show car wax, but a very economical show car wax when you figure cost per application. One 8 oz. jar of Souveran will wax a full size car at minimum 30 times. That breaks down to a little more than $3 an application. I can't think of a better way to spend $3 on any vehicle, show car or daily driver. :dblthumb2:
