Anybody use Nufinish?

I haven't used nu finish in a looong time- like maybe the 90s'? I don't recall using it more than a couple of times, and reverting back to my meguiars. but i preferred cleaner waxes, so that may have been why. If they still tout the "rated #1 by a consumers magazine" I would see how long ago that has been.

But the only way you're going to prove it is to test it. Maybe put it up against the ever popular collinite insulator wax and see which lasts longer.

If it didn't stain trims I would probably use it. It has good durability and it looks good once applied. But the fact it stains trims makes it a headache to use. So I don't. If you are not a pro and want to use it for your car, just be mindfull of trims and you should be happy with it. Otherwise there are plenty of good sealants on the market that do not stain trims that you can use. They might not last as long, I always recommend to apply sealants twice a year regardless of which one you use.

Don't let one ruin the forum. It's 99.9% of the time the best car forum going.

I usually just scroll past.

I used it in the late 80's/early 90's. Looked Ok but never lasted close to a year. Required a second application in 30 days for longevity and was dusty when removing. Didn't use it long.

I used it a looooong time ago.

What I did not like:
* It stained trim
* very dusty when you buff it off. You literally need to wash your car to remove the white dust
* it gets between the paint and trim and is very difficult to get out

What I did like:
* lasted 4-6 months
* price

I used the paste version last year. After polishing the paint with M205, I noticed it left the finish looking worse off. The smell of it alone is enough to keep me from using it ever again. Water behavior was average. I'm not sure how it would perform on unpolished or slightly oxidized paint, but if you're an enthusiast that does your own polishing then you have much better options available both over the counter and online in my opinion.

Did it last a year after the second coat? In my experience it did.

Why, because I don't like people giving me crap when I ask a simple question?

You are also asking a question about a product not sold or supported by Autogeek, just for the record.

"Autogeek.net is a private closed forum, for the discussion of products that are vendors of Autogeek.net only."

I used NuFinish on a 1980 Chevy Citation back in 1990. I remember two things very clearly. It actually did improve the highly oxidized single stage paint. And it was a serious b*tch to wipe off. I've never used any product that was as difficult to work with as that. But then, I was essentially cutting by hand.

Would I ever use it again? Maybe on a mailbox.

I have a friend, a fellow car painter, who uses it, and and told me he liked it a lot. It comes on a red or orange can, I don't remember it right.
I introduced him to Menzerna PowerLock couple months ago.
Now he only uses NuFinish on cheap cars, and got amazed by the perfomance of the PowerLock.
He also told me after the can is gone, he won't buy it again.

Used it in the 80's. I remember it being bad about staining trim. I would not even think about using it now. The 80's was a long time ago.

We have this guy in another forum who swears this stuff is the best protectant on the market. Others have said there are other products that are better and that no professional detailer would use this stuff. I personally don't know any detailers that use it, and I don't care for it at all. Do any of you use it, and do you know any pros that use it?

used it back in the 90's when I didn't know any better. works meh...if that in comparison to the products out there today. if he swears by it, I would venture to say he's never properly used even basic AIO products available today. in terms of longevity Colline would likely kick its butt in a side by side.

I used NuFinish back when I was using one bucket with dish soap and half a cotton shirt. It stained trim and was hard to remove, and on top of that it dusted. NuFinish is garbage.

Seems like everyone who's used it in the distant past stained their trim with it... But didn't lots of polishes and waxes back then stain trim as well? Was masking tape undiscovered back in those days? Tape off the trim! Lol.

When applying just a sealant?
