Hi,

Long time lurker here. Have learnt and bought most of the stuff from Autogeek.

I have done ceramic coating on couple of cars from Honda and Ford. Have had good experience but recently bought a Tesla.

Polishing it has been a pain. Car has some holograms/ swirls. I wanted to do one step initially. Used menzerna sf4500/3800 and black pad. The car still has polish induced swirls with such a fine polish. This did not happen with any other cars I polished. I tried below products to correct

Meguiar’s DA Microfiber Correction Compound +
Sonax perfect finish
Chemical guy's v38
Menzerna 3500

With various pad combinations
Microfiber cutting pad
White hexlogic pad
Black pads
Orange pad

On porter cable 7424xp.

I am very tired now and exhausted all my knowledge and options. As a last bet planning to use meguiars m210. I am not sure if it will work.

Please help me find a combination which can remove the light swirls from this black car.

Thanks in advance

Thank you, never used optimum polish. Ordered it on Autogeek. unfortunately shipping is very slow these days. Meanwhile any good guides that I can refer to before starting to polish on a soft paint? Please let me know.

Thanks in Advance

Their are a few posts over on autopia from j smooth he has worked on teslas and he uses black fire polish

Have tried optimum polish, meguiars 110 and 210 combo, Carpro Essence.

Still there are fine swirls.

I don't think my technique is at fault because I was able to detail other black cars without this issue.

At one point I diluted the polish with water but it did nothing.

Can some one please help or direct me to a resource. I want to learn and finish this project.

Just to comment....

A few months ago I polished some very soft antique Plexiglas totally clear using Pinnacle Advanced Finishing Polish.

Polishing Plexiglas to be as clear as glass using Pinnacle Advanced Finishing Polish

Thank you.

I have already spent $400+ on Autogeek after starting this project. Car Detailing is a costly hobby. Wish there were samples available easily to test. I will try these two products for one final time.

Wife is already angry that I bought a new car but I am just keeping it in the garage and working on it all night.

I used Meguiars M205 on the one black Model 3 I did. Turned out great. I dont think their paint is very hard.

The pinical twins and finish and Polish Hdo pads will take that what the heck have I gotten my self into feeling away.

Don’t discount your microfiber causing swirling as your remove the polish. With soft paint like that, just use stuff that fills. Life is too short otherwise.
