Just picked up the DA micro kit. I have the 2 pads that came with it, and no compressed air to clean on the fly.

Wondering if I could get by with just the 2 pads, and able to do the whole car.

Also, what do you guys suggest I do to clean the pads w/o compressed air, and how often?

bug sponge and after every section you do it should be cleaned out.

sorry for being a noober...

so get the bug sponge, turn on the da, and hold it down on the pad? then what, pat it dry using a micro towel?

I regularly use one pad to do a car. Just watch the heat build up in the pad.

What I do is work a 2x2 section, then clean the pad. To do this I use either a bug sponge or a pad cleaning brush. I place the sponge on the pad before I turn on the DA. Run it for a few seconds, then turn it off and remove sponge. I then inspect the pad and repeat cleaning if necessary. No blotting involved.

Thanks for the info Cobra! Do you run it on the dry sponge?

M.P. is right and you run it on a dry sponge.

Perfect, thx z-oh!

I actually read your thread about the da kit. Can't wait to get home and put this thing to use! First buff job on my daily driver in avatar.

Thx again for the info!

No prob. :props:

Did you buy your car new? Has it been re-painted?

Nope, it's used, never been repainted, except for the bumper which was done the other day. I haven't put the new freshly painted bumper on yet. I still have the old chipped up one on. I planned on just buffing out the whole car, except the bumper.

Why did you only get two pads? The five inch kit comes with two cutting and two finishing pads.

The bug sponge works great for me.
Use the on-the-fly method to clean the disc. It's quick, easy & it works!

Did you cut yours?

Errrmmm...yeah, that's what I meant:xyxthumbs:

Ah okay. I haven't used mine yet but I plan to use both of them. Will be cleaning mine up with a soft bug sponge (warm water to soften up the sponge) and a foam brush. Also going to do small section passes so that the pad doesn't heat up.

do you guys get the sponge wet before cleaning on the fly with it?

i am just gonna use the same pad brush i use to clean my foam pads
