I just had a guy stop by my office, at the suggestion of one of my customers, to come discuss and demonstrate some Blue Ribbon detailing products. Have any of you guys ever had any experience...... or do you have any comments on their product line?

I would not mind helping the guy out if their products are worth something.

Thanks in advance!

P.S. My patients did look at me funny while I was talking car care products. It was all Chinese to them, but they loved it!!

Years ago I had "Blue Ribbon"-products (Pabst) that I imbibed while performing many duties...
Can't remember off-hand if detailing was one of those duties, though.

:D

Glad I'm not the only one whose mind went to another blue ribbon first. Haha

THREAD HIJACKED!!!! Thanks Bob! I needed the laugh. I guess the lack of responses makes for a response by itself!

Wait a minute, he demonstrated some products--in your office?

On his truck outside :)

He had some Spray and Shine, some Red Rage APC and some Glacier tire gloss. All seem to work decent but he had no real info on longevity, etc... Price point was similar to products I have and use.

Some of them are very nice: Micro seal, good lsp; fantastic finish, great aio with nice durability.

Since Bob opened the door...

Now wait a cotton-pickin' minute...none of us here in the US have heard of this brand, but across the pond you know all about it??

LOL!!! This thread is going NOWHERE! I guess even though their name has been around since 1900 that a century+ of having been around does not make them a leader in the industry.

The fellow offered to come by when I am detailing to come show me the products in action. Main problem I have with his marketing hook is that the "favorites" are sold in 1 and 5 gallons only (no sample, no 16oz. etc..).... what if I don't like them!?!?

On a different note.... keep posting about Blue Ribbon stuff nonetheless. The first time I heard about the name I remembered this song about a sleeping/ drunken Scotsman. Pretty catchy song but the part that I am associating with this thread is

Well the Scotsman woke to nature's call and stumbled towards a tree,
And as he lifted up his kilt, he gawks at what he sees,
And in a strangled voice, he says to what's before his eyes,
"I don't know where ye been, me lad, but I see ye took first prize!"

I was just teasing Porta a little bit, he's a good guy that I know from a different forum, very knowledgeable.

Yeah, I consumed a good number of Blue Ribbons back in the day. When it went on sale, my brother-in-law and I would take his pickup, and buy 20 or 30 cases.

As for the detailing products, I don't recall hearing of them.

20 or 30 cases...that might be why you don't recall hearing about the detailing products ;)

I am like the guy in the video, except a little shorter, a little darker and a little smarter, however just as patriotic :D

and if I have one to many, I stumble just the same. Lol

This humorous video was very funny lol

Back on topic:
I tried Googling: Pabst Detailing and couldn't find anything btw

As you pointed out, the wheel fell off the track on this one. If you want to get back on the topic then you will need to Google: "Blue Ribbon Detailing Products"
