Looking for a new spray wax/QD

Not a single endorsement for AF Finale? That was my front runner before I started this thread...now leaning towards OID and D156. With Red mist and BFPS close behind.

I'm currently testing several quick detail sprays, started with 13 and am down to 9 as I weed out the junk and Finale is the next to be booted. It has two things going for it, the sprayer and the smell and that's it. It's a bit grabby feeling when wiping it (towel doesn't glide over like nearly all the others) it makes no noticeable shine difference and hardly any slickness difference.

On the topic of scent, my bottle which is three months old has started to smell a bit like rotten fruit and not like the great fruit punch it started out as. I emailed AF about it and they basically said, yeah that can happen it's ok to use. Saw another person post about it on the UK forums in the AF section and he got the same response. Not the response you want to hear for a product marketed as high end. You'd think they'd stand behind their product and offer a replacement or something after it smells rotten in three months? Had an issue with a Meguiar's product, they sent me a new gallon. It's nice when a company actually cares. I like several AF products but Finale is one I can't endorse at all due to it's lackluster performance and poor quality fragrance that starts out amazing and smells rotten in no time at all.

Wow there's a lot of choices out there but outside of making your own out of rinseless wash, here's what I've used/have/like:

-DG Aqua wax
-D156
-V7

I've used others but those are my choices and yeah, the 1st 2 are more of a spray wax/sealant but you could still use it the way you'd want too, especially after a carwash for instance.

Sent from my SPH-M930 using AG Online

I have only tried a few QD's and spray wax, V7, Optimum Instant Detailer, Sonax Brilliant Shine detailer, zymol quick detailer and griots spray on wax. Of these that i have tried, best in looks for me are the ff:
1) Sonax Brilliant Shine Detailer
2) zymol Quick detailer
3) Optimum Instant detailer
4) V7

I have a red car so I prefer the carnauba look than the glassy look of a sealant.

Here are my top choices for slickness:
1) V7
2) Optimum Instant detailer
3) Griots spray on wax
4) Zymol Quick detailer

Question though, why is slickness on top of your priority list instead of durability? don't you want your car to look shiny longer?

One 32oz bottle of Turtle Wax Rinsless Wash and wax mixed with a gallon of water , I just love the way it works for me,all for 6 bucks, six bucks for a gallon on QD, or you kidding me!
Happy here:)

Oh No... another gallon, my wife will kill me, only kidding. May I ask what you are topping. I am still using up last 2 bottles of Zaino z5. Actually thought about trying the blacklight next time.

I've used it on a number of different combos, currently WG 3.0 Sealant & 2 coats of Fuzion. It appears to leave a little more gloss and definitely more protection behind than V-7, again just my opinion. I know when I wipe my Black GC down afterglow is amazing.

My cars have a base of wax in summer and sealant in the winter. So I'm not worried about the protection side of durability.

I also rinseless or waterless wash them several times a week. So if the shine lasts 2 days, that's plenty. If it rains, they are getting washed anyway.

I use dg951 when looking for more durability

Does Meguiar's Ultimate Quik Wax (D156) contain any cleaners? I'm looking for a suitable product to go over KSG. Any other OTC suggestions? If not, Optimum Car Wax seems to suit my needs: it's advertised as not having cleaners and I like the added UV protection (whether or not that's a gimmick to be determined).

D156 does not have cleaners. Optimum Car Wax is not a gimmick and is a good choice for spray wax. If you want something with acrylic in it as KSG does, look at Sonus Acrylic Glanz

Duragloss Aquawax seems to be appropriate for KSG as well. It's advertised as a synthetic spray sealant, non-abrasive and have seen it come up countless times in previous threads.

I'm still trying to decide whether I will be using a carnauba wax monthly over KSG. I feel that might have some influence on choosing a spray wax. Does it make sense to use a carnauba spray wax over carnauba paste / liquid and synthetic spray over sealant (KSG)?

You will get different answers about topping sealants with waxes but I say if it makes you feel better and you enjoy it why not?
