Sonax Polymer Net Shield

Well any hydrophobic properties it exhibits are mostly from the pns but for me it was much easier to apply than carpros reload which was meant to top CQUK. It's suppose to rain tomorrow so we can see the results but as of now it looks great!
 
Awesome, please keep this updated. I never knew it was originally designed for coated vehicles, I had just seen videos of some insane water sheeting behavior and great longevity, and I purchased some on Friday to try with the wife's car that lives outdoors.

Now that I read it was engineered for coatings, my interest is piqued for my vehicle as well.

I'll be interested in your perception of the water behavior of the PNS vs. the CQUK you're already familiar with.

The CQUK was insane with water beading I had two coats on previously before I polished it down to remove some high spots from my original application. As far as self cleaning ability I found it to be decent but still left some salt and dirt from a snow storm after spraying it down with just a power washer. I'm hoping the pns is a little better in the self cleaning department but I expect crazy hydrophobic properties as I have seen in the videos
 
Nothing beats PNS for self cleaning, including any of the coatings I've tried. Its truly amazing.

I saw that today! It's been raining for a few hours here in PA and I had some chunks of mud on my lower panels behind the rear wheels from driving on the grass for work on Monday and now they are almost completely gone! That's amazing
 
I used PNS about 3-4 weeks ago on my wife's pearl-white Acura. I definitely notice that the car does not get dirty as quickly as it used to and with a heavy rain it practically cleans itself.

The beading is just about on-par with Collinite 845 which is saying something!

I am very pleased with it!!!

Last Friday I applied a fresh coat of PNS to my car (not that it really needed it). After a recent rain storm I thought exactly the same thing...looks like Collinite beads!

PNS does keep the car noticeably cleaner. I also applied it to my father's car and he said the same thing. It's not exactly a joy to use, but PNS does offer benefit's over traditional sealants. Though my bottle of PNS still has a coat-or-so left in it, I took advantage of the Black Friday sales and purchased a new bottle.
 
How does PNS do in the protection department--bird bombs, bugs etc???

Much better against bird bombs than a traditional sealant, IMO. That said, all bird bombs are not created equal, so protection may vary.
 
I think it depends on what someones need from a sealant/topping. If someone wants looks and easy application PNS and BSD are not the best. If someone wants protection for a long time is a good option. But, for someone (like me ) who washes and cleans his car really often (like most of us in a car's detailing forum) I think is not the main issue. I wash and wax/seal the car every 10 days max so I care for easy application and looks and that's why I don't use mine PNS and BSD anymore. CG BL and V7 or Zaino ZCS with Z6/Z8 produce better and easier results or Optiseal and OID/OCW. Also, when I use PNS/BSD I am always afraid of scratching my paint (probably it's wrong but that's my fealing).
 
I applied another coat last week using a different method that used more prouduct but was a lot faster and less touching of the surface.

Basically spray PNS directly onto panel and wipe with a damp plush towel. Worked out amazing and acted almost like a spray wax only took a few cross hatching wipes for the product to flash and dissapear. Most certainly my new prefered method of application. Took all of 15-20 minutes to do my long bed truck

I've been applying Sonax's BSD with a damp terry MF, and it's certainly a lot easier and less draggy. I also noticed that it spreads easily using a WW MF towel, even when dry.

Next time I apply PNS, I'll try using a damp MF applicator. Glad to hear it works well. I wonder if it affects durability, though.
 
Can this product be applied with a DA polisher? I'm curious whether it would make the difficulty in application a moot point.
 
You might want to try the Buff & Shine red dual hand applicator--it's made of the same soft high density foam as their applicator pads for the DA. The high density gives it a very smooth surface that glides easily over the paint. I've found it to be the best hand applicator with no grab to it at all.

Finally used PNS for the first time.. My Jeep is opticoated (OC2.0) but I still like to try different LSPs on top of it :)
Started by 2B wash with CarPro Reset followed by claying with Nanoskin fine mitt and Meg's D114 as lube then rinsed down and dried..
I then hand polished with Sonax Premium Class Paint Cleaner with Ez-grip polishing pad, just 1 or 2 passes to clean the paint and then removed polish residue with Microfiber Madness Yellow Fellow towels..
Then I went straight to PNS, is that ok or I should have wiped down with IPA first?
I've seen product demo videos by Sonax for their coating and premium carnauba wax and they went straight from paint cleaner to coating or wax so I thought it should be ok for PNS as well..
I applied PNS with lake country coating applicator, it's a bit small and rectangular in shape but I think that's good for coatings and tricky sealant like PNS, working in small sections (doors = 3-4, hood = 6) and spraying 2-3 times on the applicator for each section and used Microfiber Madness Crazy Pile towels for immediate wipe off..
Working in shade, temperature range 66-70f and humidity 40-50% but still removal was not easy.. I had to reapply with applicator in many areas to remove the streaks/high spots, even the applicator itself left some streaks when it got saturated and I switched to a fresh applicator..
I'm interested to know if the damp MF towel application method is ok or affecting durability? Maybe I'll try it next time even if I'll use/waste more product..
I have BSD to top it later when needed..

I've also wanted to try the sonax caranuba on top of pns but have not yet. I found the spray and wipe technique with PNS worked a lot better than using the applicator and a lot faster too so maybe try that again in a week or two. Gonna be topping my pns with bsd at some point here in the future. How has the pns acted over the opti coat? That's nice that it is able to be topped

I know we are not supposed to top coatings and just leave them alone but that's not fun!! :D
I already have other products to try and can't stop buying even more :doh:, thanks to this forum :)

I detail only my own car(s) so I consider the coating as a base of protection that I know it'll be there for long time and then I can top it with whatever I like when I have time and want to have some fun and to try out different looks and characteristics of other products..

I know by doing this I'm not getting the full potential of both the coating (losing most of it's characteristics) and the topper (not getting it's full durability/longevity) but that's fine with me..

Regarding Sonax PNS and BSD, I won't buy them again and I'll stick to products that are easier to use like BFCS, BFMS, Meg's Ultimate, Hydro2 and the likes...
