I had a 1 litter bottle of Iron-X sitting in my product shelf for a while, this morning I decided to transfer it to my car cleaning plastic container. Before doing so I had to open the bottle to put in the spray gun on it.

The bottle must have been open for about 30 seconds, you know the time to remove the cap, get the spray gun and screw it in place.

Well... my house has this insane horible stench now. It's been about 14 hours and I can still smell it, and it's still pretty strong.

What the heck! Last time I open a bottle of that product in my house.

Any idea how to get rid of that beside opening all the Windows for a few hours (I would rather not do that it's pretty cold at this time of year here in Montréal).

This brings me to the question: Does Ammo plum smell as bad? I think there is also an other product almost identical to Iron-X from an other manufacturer as well.... does that one stink too?

I've used iron x and wolfs and they both have a bad smell. If its a big deal try iron x lemon scent

Lol, I just received a bottle of that today at school. I have heard it smelled, so of course I opened it and smelled it! I almost fell over in my chair! My soccer coach came and I had him smelling it! We were running around my office trying to smell the new t-shirts I ordered to smell something different! We were laughing so hard, anybody that came in my office asked, what is that smell? So of course I had them open the bottle to smell it! Funny stuff...

I used fabreeze to knock out the smell in my office...
I am still laughing on how bad it smells!

They just came out with a lemon-scent version of Iron-X. How to get rid of the smell...maybe sprinkle some iron dust around? :D

Adam's Deep Wheel Cleaner ( paint safe too like IX) has a very strong cherry scent. You still get a little bit of the nastiness behind the cherry, but it's not that bad.

That's funny I was thinking the exact same thing earlier LOL What do I have that is iron ROFL!

It's starting to discipate now. When I came in this evening at 9 pm I was revulsed by the remaining smell. I opened to bottle at 6 am... now talk about durability. Maybe Chemical Guys could contact them to know how to make smells last, would be helpful for their car scent products that only last a day LOL

I usually leave the iron x bottle in a large ziplock bag or in a bag with a rubber band around the bottle. It really helps cut down the smell.

I'm used to the smell by now though lol

Yep, the original Iron-X's smell is "truly unique", isn't it! (OMG!)

When I used it last fall on my SUV, and the Chrome Plated Alu Wheels, (when I had them off the Vehicle), I could still smell the stuff 2 weeks later outside on the Carport, and ground where I cleaned the Wheels.

Just don't spray it in your door jambs.. It'll get in the interior and smell for days. Ask me how I know!

I have used so much Iron X over the years I don't even notice the smell anymore.

AMMO Plum smells like Iron X, as well as Adam's Deep Wheel Cleaner. Leads me to believe they're all pretty similar, just with different labels and in different bottles. The only difference I've seen is that DWC is a pinkish-red color, the others are clear.

Yes, they pretty much all have the same active ingredient meaning the same smell, but Adam's has a crap ton more scent added to it in an attempt to hide it. By no means does it smell good though, just better.

I might be the only one who sort of likes the smell of Sonax FE wheel cleaner. IronX paste doesn't bother that much. It just smells like fireworks that were just used.
