Looking to bounce some ideas on technique/regimens.

Are Meguiar's Black Wax and White wax an AIO?

^ I saw this last weekend. A detailer came to my lady's neighbors house. They polished the entire car in about 4-5 hours. Some people just don't want the car being worked on for 30 hour detail sessions. So the car just got a 2 step.

Some just want a quick shine. (I don't see anything wrong with that)

That's what we did at the SoCal meet up. We just clayed and polished the paint with M205.

So I guess it got step 2

It's funny you mentioned m66. Member, ExoticAutoDetai just sent me a sample to try with MF pads. I snapped a few quick pics this Saturday of M66 compared to d151...the pics came out crappy and I couldn't tell much difference by the pics.

I used m66 and D151 on a meg's mf finishing disc. I need to do waay more testing, but with a quick test it seemed like I was getting better cut with d151. It was also slightly easier to remove than m66. . .not that m66 was difficult.

I was working on a very light blue, metallic, Prius. I just could not seem to catch the swirls very well in the pics. I really needed some bright sun, but it was raining that day and the brinkman just wasn't cutting it for some reason.

It may be that a cutting disc would work better with m66 as an AIO. I'm feeling pretty hopeful about it.

I've heard word that meg's is going to discontinue m66. I could be wrong.

I just got off the phone with Meguiar's. I asked them what lake country pads I should use. They said orange or white should be fine. With M66.

I also asked them about Meg's MF cutting disk. They said the M66 wasn't designed to be used with MF discs.

I'm thinking about picking up the D151 for an AOI. I plan on getting MF pads once I can get an air compressor. I dont really have the space for a large compressor at the moment but might just pick up something small to clean out the pads. What LC CCS pads have you guys used for D151? The LC chart says the green pad is for AOI. Green is the only CCS pad I dont have. I would think white would finish out nicely?

It really depends on the hardness of the paint. I've worked worked with D-151 in the past, used up about a half gallon of it in testing and decided to keep testing other AIO products.

During my trials with D-151 I've noted that some harder paints were better served by using an orange light cutting foam pad where some of the softer paints the orange was just too aggressive a pad for those softer paint, and a white polishing pad or even a finishing pad worked better for them.

I didn't care much for the D-151 with microfiber pads as I feel it gums the MF pads up too much for my liking.

The AIO I personally like the best with MF pads is either Duragloss #501 or HD Speed.

That's the stock answer they will always give you. It's the same answer you'll get when you ask them about m101 too.

After priming, d151 must be used very sparingly on mf pads. 2 pea sized drops, or it's gum city.

Maybe I'll get back to testing it with MF pads again. You can't beat the price and Kevin Brown's writings have convinced me that it is a very worthy product all around. I've had good success with it using wool or foam pads on the rotary.

I'm certain I was using too much product with MF pads and DA though.

So you really like the stuff huh?

Love it!

White or orange LC pads. Recently have been using both meg's finishing a cutting mf pads. . .depending on paint hardness. Griots DA

So when you use an orange pad, do you follow it up with a white pad? Or would it be good to go with just an orange pad/D151 as is?

I plan on detailing a dark grey car. With just doing a 1 step package. They don't want 2 or 3 steps. So i'll give them what ask for :)

My plan is doing a test spot with an AIO and showing them the results. And see if they want to add additional steps, If they want.

But more on that later. Have to head to class :)

No follow up. That defeats the purpose of an AIO. On hard paint go with an orange pad or even a mf cutting pad. On a soft black honda, porsche, subaru etc, you'll definitely want a white or mf finishing pad...otherwise you'll be removing some defects but leaving a lot of haze and micro marring.

HD Speed looks like a good choice too. I've been wanting to get an AIO

LOLOL I guess I should have read lower b4 sending you that PM.

As people here will find out, I have taken Mikes quote "Find one product line and use it so you know it" or something close to that, I have done this with HD. I took some advice from another forum and a poster noted that he does nice 2 steps with UNO and Speed.

I can tellyou that speed on a black honda did a better job than when I did UC and UP. less time used and fewer passes to get a great hood!
