Hi,

I am interested in buying an electric pressure washer (I have severely limited storage space, plus I don't want to deal with gas anymore) and a foam cannon.
I have read all sorts of posts on the web about fittings not working (eg AR383 and the MTM) and how to fix them...but really i'd rather just buy a compatible washer and cannon.

I wash my car nearly every week.

Recommendations?

Thanks guys

My Karcher 2.360 was $130 at Walmart. It's used 2x weekly and is working as good as new after 1.75 years. Hooking up a foam cannon to a Karcher K series is easy, its a simple plastic adapter available at AG and other places.

It seems the MTM Hydro and AG foam cannon are similar. I have the MTM. I think it was $50 and has worked well since I bought the pressure washer. The AG cannon is 2x as much, and I haven't seen a proven benefit.

Looking back, the only thing I would do different is get a model of pressure washer where the hose rolls up on a wheel on the unit. As, dealing with the hose is a bit of a pain.

Someone posted if you buy an electric pressure washer at Costco they will warranty it for life and replace it with whatever model they are selling. I'm not sure if that is true or not, but it may be worth looking into.

Other than that, if be hard pressed to get anything but a Karcher in this price range. They invented the pressure washer, so that has to mean something. One good thing about the Karcher is, because of the adapter the foam bottle doesn't swing side to side.

I have an AR unit (118) and I've used plenty of times with no problems at all. I love the unit but wish I had originally purchased something a little more powerful since most say you need it if you want good foam. AR themselves sells the mtm foam cannon that comes ready to use with any of their systems. I'm placing my order for it this week so if you want to wait a little I'll try and post up my review as soon as I can. They've offered a compatible foam cannon since early summer IIRC but I was too lazy to pull the trigger. I just got my bottles of avalanche and honeydew in as well so I'm ready to get to some foaming!

Cleanforce 1800 psi pressure washer & MTM foam lance is what I use. The foam is adequate. If I use enough soap it looks like shaving cream on the paint. I like it to be a little runny though... just enough to cling for a bit and rinse down some of the road grime before the wash.

I have one of the small 2.5 gpm units and the cannon works well. If I had my choice for best operation I would go for a 3.5 gpm or 4 gpm unit with adjustable pressure control. I have used my cannon with a 3.5 gpm washer and the foam IMO is a lot better.

I just picked up the cleanforce and my MtM is on the way...
Will report back.

Thanks everyone.

I just got the same pressure washer (only mighty force) I was surprised that the hose / cord reel works as well as it does. Good machine but the hose could stand to be another 5-10 feet longer. I got it for $150 on sale and you can't beat it. Even comes with a quick connect for your garden hose so you don't have to deal with losing the little filter screen, and it has plenty of pressure. You made the right choice OP.

:iagree: i have this unit also. It's a car so it doesn't require a ton of pressure. Too much pressure can hurt the paint. This one is super compact and lightweight with just enough pressure

i used the ar foam cannon yesterday with the 118 and the results were fantastic. got great coverage on the car using 2oz of honeydew and 1oz of avalanche

i never use my foam cannon anymore ...anyone else feel like its more of a luxury than anything else?

Awesome! I think you will like it.

I agree. Since I'm mobile the self storage and reel for the hose and power cord is awesome. Another thing that I forgot to point out is the fact that you do not need an adapter with this pressure washer to fit the foam cannon. It's the same "quick connect" fitting as the more expensive gas models. I agree about the water hose though... it's fine for small cars but with an SUV or even a mid sized sedan you will have to move the unit once to reach around the whole car.

Hey, I'm looking to purchase a Pressure Washer and this one came up. It seems to be exactly what I'm looking for. Pretty much just buying it to wash the car.

It seems as though the AR Blue products had issues connecting to Foam Cannons such as the MTM.

It looks like they manufactured a new adapter:
https://www.arblueclean.com/Products/blue-clean-foam-cannon-adapter-154.cfm

Originally I was just going to purchase a Gilmour foam gun but I want to achieve better results. Doesn't seem like the gun can produce the same amount of foam that the cannon can.

If I purchase the AR118 does it come with the new MTM adapter or must I purchase it separately?

This is what I'm looking to purchase: (is this all I need)?

MTM Foam Lance

Let me know if this looks good! Thanks! :xyxthumbs:

If you want you can purchase the adapter but ar sells a compatible foam cannon themselves now. I purchased and used it with great success. The foam cannon that ar supplies hooks straight up to any of their systems so no additional parts are needed. You can go either route but I would assume buying their foam cannon makes more sense

I completely overlooked the fact that they came out with their own "foam cannon".

They seem like a reputable company so I'm assuming their cannon is of high quality. Do you know if it's the same as the MTM and AG's cannons? I tried researching it but it seems as though no one has it since it's relatively new.

Might as well save the $15 (I'll buy extra soap, haha) and buy their cannon that fits without the adapter.

Can you compare the AR cannon with the MTM? Have you used the MTM? I just don't want to spend the same amount and end up with an inferior cannon.

Does it produce similar foam to this video? He's using the same pressure washer but he had to custom fit the MTM cannon to the pressure washer which possibly decreased the quality/thickness of the foam.

I use it all the time and love it. It attracts customers, arouses them and the need to inquire, also it just works. Use it once to get the loose grime off and again to suds up as u 2bm. But for each their own. I happen to love the Super Foam it puts out. I know my paint is clean and ready and I don't feel that way or so easy about the quick washes with no water.

Yea I totally forgot that was one of the key selling points when I picked the mighty force. The tips/ fittings all the way around are the same as the expensive units. The gun is also the same quality you'd find on a more expensive unit. If you go with anything else you have to buy replacement parts or attachments from them or modify the unit to accept the standard pressure washer fittings. You can buy any 1/4" tip / foam cannon. I'm assuming I can replace the hose with any standard PW hose I find locally (more than likely a 30'+ steel braided one when I get around to it) and It seems like the reel can stand to hold more hose. Its a benefit because if something breaks you can easily replace it from a local store and not have to worry about ordering hard to find parts online.

The quality is definitely there. I haven't used an mtm but from my first use it was performing amazingly well for the power that the ar118 produces. Message me and I will send you pictures of the unit and I'll send you a picture of what the foam looks like on my car when I use it again. My foam looked as good maybe even better than the one in the video and I didn't even use a crazy amount of soap or anything
