These forums are among the best I've ever been a part of, and are full of experienced pros, and brand-newbies alike. There are so many different products out there, I think it would be fantastic if AutoGeek had a dedicated Classifieds/For Sale section. There's an entire THREAD on regretted detailing purchases. Imagine if these folks who could just sell that stuff they bought, thought they'd use, but never did to another geeker who may use it?

As an add, a 'swap' section would be fantastic as well (Perhaps a subforum within that Classifieds forum, but something more robust than just a thread like the pay it forward thread). Lots of us have consumable products we no longer use or thought we'd use. One option might be to sell half-empty bottles of product; but probably a more practical option for offloading unwanted consumables would be a swap section! Swap products with other members (whether by meeting up or shipping) to try out new stuff. There is already a sample swap thread, but it is cluttered and not as robust as a 'swap' subforum, AND is geared towards samples. What if I had been using a particular Carnauba wax, but switched to another, and had half a bottle I know I'll never use? Maybe I could swap it with someone who has a polish I'd like to try, who also has used some of it but probably won't use it again!

Just a thought! Maybe it's a bad idea, maybe it's been discussed before and there are reasons I'm unaware of why it wouldn't work, but there was a short discussion on the chatbox about it, and I thought I'd make a thread! I think there are a lot of 'geekers' who would enjoy it. And now, after SEMA, is the PERFECT time to introduce it. With people ready to upgrade to new DA polishers and try out new products, I'm sure it'd be great for them to have a place on AutoGeek to sell their old equipment!

Thanks for a fantastic forum and the BEST place to buy my stuff!

Of course! But then, if it already existed, it wouldn't be a suggestion eh?

The 'personal sales' one is pretty clear that we can't sell our own products but it's fairly vague as to whether or not that applies to used products, though from context I would assume it does. If it's a bad idea, it's a bad idea. But I figured I'd throw that suggestion out there for AutoGeek to reconsider it's stance when it comes to the resale of used products to other members.

PBMG is certainly full of a lot of smart people and maybe they've determined that it could hurt their sales and I absolutely understand that. But I figured I'd throw it out there anyway! Hey; all you can do is ask right?

I have participated in the Samples Swap, but the shipping just kills the deal for me.

I wish the pricing wasn't so high on the Samples from AGO.

Results for samples - Search

If you want to try a sample of Wolfgang Auto Bathe, it's $6.99 ($3.50 per oz)

The sale price for WGAB 16oz is $19.99 ($1.25 per oz)

Maybe if AGO went to a pricing formula that doubled the per ounce price of the full-sized product, it would be more palatable and consumers would be more likely to try new products.

I usually wait until I need at least $95 worth of supplies and add a FREE sample to my order. Funny though, I just keep getting the FREE Wolfgang Deep Gloss Sealant and never try anything else!

We do not like to get involved in sales on the forum between members, when we have and the sale goes bad they come to us to fix it. So we will not be doing a classifieds section for that reason.

Fair enough! I understand that completely.

I'm a moderator on a motorcycle forum and occasionally have people running to me when they get scammed or a product isn't what they thought it'd be. Though that forum has a 'at your own risk' policy with the classifieds.

Well; it was an idea anyway! Thanks Meghan!

Meghan,

Any thoughts on the Sample Pricing?

One thing to note on the sample pricing, is that it's not unusual or uncommon for smaller quantities to cost more-per-volume, and it still IS cheaper. Rather than buying a $48 bottle of product I may or may not use, I can buy a $6 sample to try it out. Even if the cost per volume is higher.

I do think it'd be cool to have samples big enough for an entire use. Polish samples aren't big enough to do an entire car, but usually the smallest size available will do the car a few times. Heck, for hobbyists like myself that may be an attractive size simply because we may only need a product one time every several months.
