Ok folks, I'm not much of a photographer but this one was too good to miss. Every once in a while you get one of those calls that makes the hair on your neck stand up, and this was one of them.
My client called and wanted her daughter's Dodge Nitro detailed, especially the interior. Her daughter works at a vet, hauls lots of dogs around with her everywhere, and had never cleaned the vehicle. Ever.
My client described the vehicle as "really bad" even though she had not seen it in some time.
Never one to shy away from unique jobs, I quoted her a general price range, what I thought probably would need to be done, and we set the appointment.
Due to schedule conflicts I did not actually see the vehicle until the day I was scheduled to pick it up. I arranged to call the client after I inspected the vehicle to give a final price.
I picked up the vehicle that morning, drove it to my home based shop, and picked my jaw off the ground. Every hard surface of the vehicle was covered in a thick grime that made the black interior look grayish. The carpets were completely covered with trash, dirt, and mold. The seats were stained beyond any reconditioning process.
My goal for this point was to get the vehicle clean. Forget about shiny, pretty, all that stuff. That was secondary. This Dodge was a driving bio hazard and needed to be treated as such.
My Process (yes I actually did all of this):
Rough vacuum
Air agitated with Tornador Black
Vacuum
Air agitated with Tornador Black
Vacuum
Used Tornador on all carpets. 1 oz CG Fabric Clean 3 oz. APC+
Mytee Lite 2 Extractor on seats, pre treated with Folex and APC+ 1:4
McCullough Steamer on hard surfaces. Every single bit of hard surfaces had such grim it had to be hit with direct steam
Cleaned all surfaces again with Megs Quik Interior Detailer
Steamed carpets, seats, and all nooks and crannies
Vacuumed again
Dressed interior with Megs Hyper Dressing 1:1. The interior surfaces were so faded that it HAD to be dressed this glossy. It was beat up, and showed. I wanted it to at least look decent.
DrivePur strong odor and bacteria treatment, using Smok, Shok, and Prevent
Total Time: 7 hours on interior.

For the exterior I didn't do much. It needed 12 hours+ to even look decent, but the client just wanted it washed and waxed. I foamed it, 2BW, then waxed with Optimum Car Wax

After I took all the photos I vacuumed the entire vehicle one last time with a brush attachment to get all of the tiny bits of dust and stuff that had got in the interior overnight while I had fans on it to try the carpets and seats.
Thanks for looking!
