Who has a Maxima?

You can get an Acura TL SHAWD w the Tech pkg with a 6MT.

DesertMate, have you driven the Mazda 6 yet? I bet the diesel w/ stick will be a blast to drive w/ all that torque. There's no new 6 bangers going in the Mazda's anytime soon, its all about SkyActiv. I feel yah about the lack of power and manual but give the Mazda6 a shot, you might be surprised and as far as stripped down base model, well you can get options on the base car, like those stunning 19's for instance. My buddy built one and it cost $24k with em too, I think you should check it out and report back to the group.

Wow, great input to sign in to. That detail on page one looks so dang good, I love the lines of the car. Klassse, I can't say I've driven a 6 with the V6. My aunt has a 2010 with the four and it seems puny. I can't say I'm a fan of that flared front fender either. I've looked at the Taurus as well. I'm in tool and die distribution so a lot of my customers around KY produce parts for Ford, I just think the Taurus is clunky though. I'd go Fusion at that route. I am entertaining the V6 Altima, I did know they share the frame, so that's an option. I wish my budget supported that of a TL SHAWD w/tech, but I want less than 100000 miles for my 23/24 grand. I had no idea about the bearings although I have been perusing the Max forums. The CVT has its ups and downs from what I understand. I can't say I mind the steady feel as opposed to the pure driving dynamic. As good of a car as the Hondas are, I've never owned one or wanted to. I've got to go with a 4 door because I take customers out to lunch almost weekly so coupes are unfortunately not an option (although I do really like the new accord sport V6) I dunno, I may end up keeping my Milan til the end of days. It's a great car, I just yearn for a bit more power and size. I've read more about the paint and I think I could get by just fine in that regard, now I've got to take that "sluggish" performance into account. I drove one a few weeks back and need to get behind the wheel again. Thanks for all the great input guys, and I apologize I haven't been in to check more frequently and respond directly.

The Mazda 6 I'm talking about is the 2014, not the 2009-2013 one, not really a fan of that car at all. My wife has a 2007 Mazda 6, the 1st gen and its got the 2.3L and its a great car and engine, has 81k on it and it runs perfectly! Sure the 3.0L DOHC has 220 hp compared to her 160 hp but the car has enough power IM0 and the 2.3L engine has a great rep, thanks Ford!

The Accord V6 sport is really a nice car, you go and drive that and you'll be looking for a pen ASAP! The car would "blow the doors off" that Maxima and its a Honda, so reliability is there! The Accord V6 coupe runs high 13's in the quartet at about 101 mph! Now I'm not saying to buy it for that reason but if power is important, well, you can't argue with those numers but remember, this the coupe, not the sedan so because of weight its going to go down a little bit.

Hey DesertMate, no more stick for the Maxima, no problem, there's a 2014 Mazda 6 with your name on it,wait a little longer and you'll be able to get a diesel too!

The new Mazda 6 is SUPER nice looking both inside and out, but without a speed6 option, no thank you for me :(

It would be nice but w/o a perf engine in the pipeline there's really no way they could pull it off, its all SkyActiv w/ its 14:1 compression ratio. My buddy told me the rumored rotory engine is off right now because they (Mazda) are concentrating on making money. Ford and Mazda together was a good thing no matter how you feel about it, just hope Mazda finds a way to add some attitude back into their line-up, what a combo that would be, looks and performance!!

So OP, you still considering the Maxima?

If I was looking for a sedan, I would. I have no doubt it would be a really fun car to drive like my 3. However, I just picked up a '14 GTI two weeks ago. I'm out of the buying market for a few years. My wife would kill me if she caught me hanging around a dealership!
