That's funny he'll hide from you cardaddy.. Some folks will step over a dollar to pick up dime....My neighbor washes his BMW M5 with an old WASH RAG and a dirty bucket. He'll hide from me almost if he thinks I'm going to try and talk him into letting me buff it!To HIM, there is NO PRICE that would make it affordable. Same thing with his brand new Nissan Leaf.

So basically you wanna know how many times you have to use a towel to break even on cost?
Glad to see you made it through Haiyan safely forum friend
Cardaddy, i am currently using a 600 gsm mf towel for QD from korea. And a plain waffle weave from korea too. On a regular day, we do roughly around 15 maintenance washes and 30 cars on weekends. I just want to put an equivalent price per car per towel if thats even possible, lol. Anyway any feedback will do, thanks!
God is good bro.
Seriously.... that isn't translating so well. :dunno: Using what kind of towel, with what, a QD? As in a $9.99 600gsm towel perhaps?
Just depends on how easily your paint develops swirls. Some you can use QD with Costco towels, others you DO need a 460, 600, 700 gsm towel. No real correlation however as that is apples to oranges.
As for waffle weaves. Are you talking about the multi-thick-foam-core for drying or thinner waffle weaves for rinseless washing? Me, I pretty much stopped any type of towel drying, (other than the final stuff that blowing dry doesn't get). Yet I have several gold plush foam-core towels that I just don't so much use. :dunno:
Cost factor though just depends on what you want to spend, and what a scratch and swirl free finish is worth to you.

But his street bikes, and his dirt bikes, and his shop in the basement where you can eat off the floor. Weeeeeeeeeelllllllllll that is a different story!
You could then start breaking it down to how many uses you get for QD before you have to downgrade your towel to lesser duties. Say removing polish next. Then yet another downgrade to removing compound. Then downgrade again to interior work. The finally to sills, jambs, and engine bays.
Basically you'll be able to get quite a bit of use from each towel during it's working cycle lifetime. My guess is it's pennies per use when you are dong the volume you guys are. For me, it'd be much MUCH higher as I just do specialty work.
This is greatly appreciated. Thanks cardaddy! Our prayers are with you, and your recovery.
Just buy a lot of different towels for many applications. U can figure out what towels are nice and not so nice. Then use the better ones for the exterior upper paint. keep moving down the ladder for parts that are dirtier and so on.
ROFL.
Sounds like mine.....
Both of their cars never see washing as far as I know... Maybe once through an automated.....
The wives car (Some kinda GM light green) is hazed, dirt and swirled out, his truck (Black) well you get the idea....
The funny thing is they know what I do and they have to look at my truck everyday when they go to their cars.
My Jeep is in the Garage, truck sits out...
I neglected my white truck for 8 months once and it looked better than either one of those do now....
Thank you very much! this great help, in this way i'll be maximizing use of the towels to the last cent.
This is greatly appreciated. Thanks cardaddy!
Doesn't that just infuriate you to no freaking end?!?!?!?!?!?!!!! Arrrggggghhhh!!!!!!
I went over there one day back in April-ish when I saw him scrubbing at his BMW with NO FREAKING SOAP and took a spray bottle of ONR to show him what he could do with it.
I even gave the guy a little spray bottle of the cheapest stuff I have, DG951 back in the spring. Still no luck!
Now that the new "Leaf" has shown up I'm hoping I could convince him to coat it. Apparently it's all the rage at Delta. He says all the guys out there are all about it, and the company is getting/giving great incentives on it. Breaks down to being almost FREE for 2 years. :dunno:
Hey.... just glad I could help.rops:
