Just wondering what everyone thinks is the best spray wax for protection and durability Thanks Joe
 
Sonax Brilliant Shine Detailer, Optimum Car Wax, Dodo's Red Mist Tropical Protection Detailer all last a while.
 
Pinnacle XMT spray wax. Problem is with questions like this almost every answer will be different. :-)

I don't know about durability but with the look Pinnacle souveran spray wax gave my car I don't care if I have to put it on every three days. Paint looks like glass.

Optimum Car Wax.

Optimum Polymer Technologies is one company that took the time to have their
Spray Wax tested and patented, for providing UVA/UVB Protection.

Durability? Claims of up to 5 months.
Of course: YMMV.

Can I piggy back on this thread?

I was reading older threads in the ask the expert section and came across talk of beginning stages of clear coat failures. Causes alluded to were thinness from factory, lots of swirling/scratching, lack of UV protection in spray waxes, etc.

Optimum Spray Wax was listed as one formulated by Dr. G with known good UV protection back in 2010, but surely others have been developed in more recent times. I've seen claims on certain brands, but how does one know if the UV protection is truly adequate to protect the clear?

I guess an aside would be: Is there truly a way to halt clear coat degradation, or is it an eventuality on ever modern car due to the thin clear from the factory?

How much do you trust in a spray wax, like Optimum's, to have successfully passed the ASTM-tests
in order to have a patent issued to that affect...as did Dr. G?

Dr.G.---being a paint chemist...has alluded to the fact that CC-paint has a ½-life of ~5 years.
By extrapolating the ½-life/5-years...to a point-in-time:
You're looking at ~15 years before the expected life of CC-paint has nearly reached total-expiration.

IMHO...
If a vehicle receives, at least, the minimum of care (wash & wax) on a regular basis:
That vehicle's CC-paint should last the estimated ~15 years.

Question:
Will every vehicle owner abide by a regular wash & wax regimen?
A related factoid:
What's constitutes a regular regimen to one person,
may not exactly mean a regular regimen to another.

I like D156 personally. :)

Between M135 and D156 one can keep the protection going for a long time between regular polishing and waxing.
 
I have been using XMT Spray wax with good results. Someone even commented to me yesterday "your car is always SOOO shiny". So I guess its working :)
 
I like Optimum Spray Wax. Good beads and GREAT durability. I put it on my car in September and it still looked and beaded the way it did when I first applied it until I polished my car this past weekend.

That's great info by Dr. G I had not seen regarding paint longevity and 1/2 life.

I do not know about others, but my car seldom goes more than a week without a wash. I'm OCD about cleanliness, but having a wife and 1 year old baby has made my car the only clean haven I have left. It's my little sterile Fortress of Solitude.

About every 6 months I strip it down to the paint, clay it, put about 3-5 coats of Klasse SG on it (depending on available days), and top it with Mothers pure carnauba liquid wax monthly. It's available locally, and I honestly can't see a difference in that vs. some of the exotic pastes I've had a chance to use.

I also use CG V7 spray as a QD drying aid/booster at about the 2 week mark on the waxing. Summer strip down includes a paint correction if necessary. That doesn't usually happen on the winter break as weather doesn't typically cooperate.

I'm definitely interested in the Optimum Spray Wax as a replacement for the Mothers, especially if the longevity is increased and UV protection is boosted. I never knew the exact longevity of the Mother's, but the dark wet black of my car after the carnauba waxing would definitely fade after a few weeks.

I honestly wonder if I've got any UV protection at all. KSG is a proven product as a sealant, but I have no idea of it's UV protecting abilities, nor that of the Mothers. CG V7 claims "long lasting UV protection", but man does Chemical Guys ever get flowery with the product claims.

3-5 coats of Klasse, I need to step up my game I guess. I do love the stuff though. I use 135 about once a week to maintain and other QD's in between that. LOL I also like the Mothers pure Carnauba as it seems to do well for the money.

How a vehicle's paint will...I'll call it: "reflect back" the Sun's rays (of all sorts)...often is determined by it being: ever so shiny:
The kind of shininess, glassiness..."reflective-values"...that Sealants such as Klasse High Gloss Sealant Glaze (KHGSG) provides.

Not that KHGSG has built-in UV-protection, or no.
It's just, IMO..that this "reflectiveness-value" is another term for: Provides some UV-protection.
