Hello all,

I'm from India and have joined this forum few hours but have been reading much of info/posts on here past many days. This website is awesome and has plenty of info on how to keep our cars protected and shiny for many years to come.

Now that I have few queries and confusions, I thought to become a member here and be part of it.

I have recently bought a used car which is a 2009 Honda City i-Vtec. It is polished metallic color and has few major to minor scratches and dents. Of course I don't mind them either because it will cost more to fix them (since they all need repainting).

Its nearly 4 months since I bought it and have not used any premium quality car care products. Only used a polish+wax from a popular Indian company named Aeroaids Com-Paints and some of there other products. I feel their products are not so perfect. First owner didn't used any waxes, polishes. Just water+shampoo wash.

Now I have came across Meguiars, Mothers and etc. I have shortlisted the items which are available here and their queries respectively. Please advice me on which products are good to be used on my car. I will be doing all by hand and I don't have much experiences but hope its not that hard. Below are few snaps of my car and will add more soon.

*First two where taken when I just bought the vehicle and third pic is recent one which shows swirl marks. They are presently in hood, trunk top, doors, fenders and etc. First owner was careless I suppose.

Meguiar's Scratch X 2.0 - Can I use this to fix swirl marks? On the whole body? or any alternatives?

Meguiar's SwirlX is not available here but Ultimate Compound is. Ultimate Compound could be more aggressive I believe.

Ultimate Polish - Read more info about this item but still in confusion. Will this fix any swirl marks? or the above products has to be used?

Meguiar's NXT Tech Wax 2.0 and Black Wax - Can I use Black Wax instead of using the both Ultimate Polish + NXT Tech Wax 2.0? or Black Wax is alternative to Ultimate Polish and needs NXT Tech Wax 2.0 to seal it? Does Black Wax contain blends that fix swirl marks? or I'm totally wrong? :p

Mothers California Gold Synthetic Wax or Mothers Fx SynWax - Are these better then Meguiar's in terms of durability?

Also let me know if there are any other products that I can use or are better to use but I cannot spend much as these premium products costs more here. Just want a protected and shiny car with long durability of wax. Temperature here will be from 20c to 35c+ and I drive my car once or twice a week. Most of time its covered.

Sorry for a long post. I'm kinda noob and lil confused even after reading plenty of posts here and in Meguiar's forums.

Please help me out.
Thanks...
Best Regards

Thanks. Yeah its is, I enjoy riding it. :)

Ultimate compound/polish then ScratchX so that mean the Ultimate Polish is used to cut and is more aggressive then ScratchX? Of course Ultimate compound is most aggressive and I don't wanna use it as well. I'm concerned about Ultimate Polish.

Can I use Black Wax instead of NXT 2.0?

yes you can use meguiars black wax instead of NXT 2.0 and ultimate polish restore and brighten the paint work while remove light swirls/ defects

Good, Thanks for the info. Wish there was thanks giving button. :)

Still looking for more suggestions and advises. Especially the Mother's Products that I have mentioned.

I've never used the Mother's products, but will cast another vote for the Meguiars products. I've used the Ultimate Compound and Ultimate Polish together with great success.

If the paint is "soft", i.e. easily corrected, then you might be able to use the Ultimate Polish by itself to get rid of the swirls and shine things up.

Ok I'm gonna go with Meguiars products. :)

Yeah I feel the paint is soft and also heard Honda cars have soft paint. So I'm afraid to use aggressive products like UC or even ScratchX directly.

I believe Ultimate Polish does the job for me but first I'm gonna use Black Wax for a month. If it doesn't suit, will switch to NXT 2.0 and also get Ultimate Polish. Meguiars products are twice times costlier here. :(

Ultimate Polish - 14 USD
ScratchX 2.0 - 14 USD
NXT Tech Wax 2.0 - 23 USD
Protectant Natural Shine - 10 USD
Meguiar's Black Wax - 24 USD
MOTHERS CG Car Wash 32 oz - 14 USD

I wouldn't worry about the aggressiveness of the Ultimate Compound; It's actually pretty mild when paired with a Lake Country orange pad. Frankly, I have been using M101 of late and it corrects much quicker than UC; is easy to use and finishes down really nice. Ultimate Polish is a nice product, but so is M205. Just be aware, you won't accomplish by hand; you need a D/A buffer.
