Review: AutoFinesse Avalanche Snow Foam

Was skeptical about this product at first because of its claims of being semi touchless, but after seeing your pictures on a filthy car I almost want to order a foam cannon and some Avalanche, too bad my pressure washer is more anemic than yours.

Also you probably have the cleanest 2002? Nissan Pathfinder I have ever seen, looks like it rolled right off the factory line.

While some may do it that way, I think of it as this: rinsing the car before foaming is like using a paint cleaner before polishing. You want to use your "big gun" first (the soap), to knock off as much dirt off as quickly as possible - then go less aggressive (water).. Since you will already be rinsing the foam off, why rinse prior to foaming?

Agreed, not only that but wouldn't having the surface wet prior to foaming dilute the strength of the foam?

This stuff absolutely ***rocks*** as does Grime Remover. GR is way more potent though :)

I use GR a lot. Specifically on wheel wells. I use it with a foaming sprayer (Griots). It seems to foam and cling better than other APCs. But for some reason it gets no love. Maybe because it's CG's.

Another point I thought of, also I don't think the foam clings as well if the car is already wet. I mean, it takes me like 3 hours to do a full 3 BM (wheels) on this vehicle. I've added so many steps. I can't add another "pre-rinse" step. I think the time would be more advantageously spent rinsing well after the foam is applied.

Yep (2001). That's how I like my cars. No mods. Showroom new. Well I did luck out. Someone ripped out the horrid Nissan guaranteed-to-eat-your-CDs factory in dash changer and put all Alpine stuff in there with iPhone/Aux connections prior to me owning it. Whoever didi it, I'd like to tell them I couldn't have done a better job. They put in an Alpine head unit and all Alpine speakers. All looks professionally done and factory (besides the look of the obvious head unit). I think they may have hidden an amp some place for all I know, because the sound gets loud and quite clear.

Grime Remover (GR) is made by Auto Finesse.

Don't waste avalanche in the foam gun. It won't be worth it IMO it really needs a pressure washer...

I don't agree: sometimes I use it with a MESTO hand pump and it does its job perfectly.

The proper name is Auto Finesse Citrus Power. It's an excellent product, for sure! :xyxthumbs:

You know, I really think I'm going senile. I just bought 10 Liters of
it and I can't even get the name right.

I'm getting old too. I have a "hangover" from staying up too late. Go figure.

I thought you meant Grime Reaper by CG's. I used it on this cleanup and thought maybe you saw it in one of the pics.

That's the type of review that makes a product go from cost prohibitive, no way, one minute to serious consideration the next.
Great job.

Gotcha. I'll try out a different approach tomorrow and see how I adapt to the changes. I'm willing to try out new techniques. Thanks.

A hand pump will produce different results than a foam gun. Nick did a review of avalanche with the foam gun and IMO it wasn't worth using it after seeing those pics. The results were predictable based on the consistency of avalanche

Great review, I need to pic up some up along with an electric pressure washer. I washed both my cars last weekend and rinsed, foamed, rinsed and it barely make a dent on the road film. I had to put a mitt to it and rinse after every use, what a PIA.

Used this today with a Foam Gun just a tiny bit more foam would have been great, more product seem to run off than cling to the surface. I'm sure it works great with a foam cannon and pressure washer.

How did it work with foam gun? Any cleaner then your regular car wash soap?
