2014 Fall Dragon Run...10/8 thru 10/12

I don't think you will be able to sleep the night before you leave KLASSE! Sounds like you are pumped!:)

It is hard to fall asleep the night before, no doubt! I'm 44 now and have been going since 2003 and I still spring out of bed when the alarm goes off, hit the shower, grab my duffle bag and hit the road! This year I'll be leaving from my hometown of Detroit as Derek0609 and myself and heading down together. Its been 5 years since I've driven through Ohio to get there, from Toledo to Cincy, all the way through:rolleyes:

We're leaving at 4 a.m. and boy Derek's neighbors are going to know when we leave, my car is loud at cold start up, LOL:p

Ha! Nothing like waking up the neighbors :dblthumb2:
Last time I drove down I left at midnight so I got there in time for lunch Im the MAN

Excited for you Roger!

Thanks Monica:cool:

Derek and I should be there in time for lunch too, The Dragon Pitt Inn has a large smoker and their BBQ is pretty damn good too, so that's what's for lunch. After lunch I'm going to do a rinseless wash on the car and then we'll wait for the other guys to get down there from Michigan. We've also got a Mom and daughter and one of her friends coming up from FLA, I'd say they'll be there around dinner time if I had to guess. Not sure if any of the locals will be coming out Friday but we've got several locals coming out on Saturday for sure, one is my buddy whom joined me as well as another local to get this going for the first time as an "organized" event for us, it started with 3 and now look at it!

We've got another group staying near Pigeon Forge as they've got couples that came out this time, the girls are doing their own thing and not participating in any of the driving, well one girl does have a MS3 but I'm not sure she's bringing her own car or driving down with her husband who's got a 500 hp MS Miata, not sure where your going to use all that down there but good luck with that:sly:

I may actually stay an extra day and come home Monday, we'll see about that though, never came home on a Monday before.

This time next week I should be relaxing looking at my clean car and taking in the fresh air of Tennessee:D

Which route are you taking through Ohio...
(to get from Toledo to Cincy?)

Perhaps I can meet-up and caravan with you guys for a spell?

Note:
You should be getting close to Dayton ~7:15-7:30.
Remember "Malfuncton Junction"? There's plenty of construction going on through that area with:
Real freaky lane changes! (And: Speed traps)

Bob

Not really sure what time we'll be rollin' through there but I appreciate the heads up on the construction Bob. IIRC the last time we drove through Dayton there was construction too, like they say "the more things change, the more they stay the same":banghead:

I'm called "Captain Slow" for many reasons but when driving through Ohio you need to set the cruize and do just that, CRUIZE! Btw, isn't the Chevy Cruize made there, Lordstown Ohio:p

I think the joke was made in "Gumball Rally" or "Cannonball Run" something about the death penalty and speeding in Ohio, LOL:p

We always stop at a Waffle House for breakfast, so that should be somewhere around 8 a.m. or so, plus we'll be filling up there too, BTW Bob how much is premium around you these days?

Less than a week to go, how about the greatest Tiger to bring us to our current count (especially after last nights game:nomore:)

....more days to go!

Now Bob, premium is that low, WOW! Up here its about .40 more atleast!

There's an old gas station in Tellico Plains, basically across the road from where we used to stay, right on route 360 and the prices were never taken down, it shows $1.50 a gallon. I will try and get a pic of my car by that when I go, LOL!

Yeah it might be a little hard to do that, its just Derek in his car and me in my car, plus with traffic and rush hour somewhere on the route:banghead:

Well I'm up and its after midnight (getting my car ready for an actual carshow tomorrow, urrr, this morning)and since I'm thinking of it, I might as well get our count for the day up. Now I know all you Geeks are tired of all the Detroit biased numbers but here's the thing, we've got a very rich tradition of Hall of Famers that have played for the Old English D, the Winged Wheel, the red, white and blue of the Pistons and ofcoarse, the only non expansion NFL team to NEVER have gone to the Super Bowl, the Lions, so I'm sure you can understand that. We've got a list of HOF'ers, so here's another one, surely they've got a spot for the greatest defensive player to EVER play the game, its hard to fill "The Captain's" shoes, the longest running C in NHL history but it was a seemless transistion here, bring us in Nick!

....number of days to go:props:

Can you guys guess who's bringing us in tomorrow?

Here's my nomination ...

Just got a txt from my buddy Randy who's about 2 hrs from Pigeon Forge, they're getting in early as he's visiting his wife's family before hand and staying there. He's got a 400 whp EVO X and his buddy has a newer GTI, between the both of them they've gone down there with a variety of cars:cool:

Another day, another Hall of Famer to bring us to our count! I'm very lucky to have grown up and seen some of the best in the business!

....more days to go!

Don't think Joe D was one of the best in the business, well besides his 3 World Championship rings, just ask Jordan how good he was!

I've applied my "Dragon Armor" to get the car ready for the drive down to the Dragon, the during and ride home! This consisted of a coat of DG #501/601, then a coat of DG #111/601 and to top it off I applied #476 and let it sit for about 2 hrs and then removed....without an issue I might add:props:
