What Machine, and which products for a 1st time full detail/correction on new CTSV

Good choice. I looked at an 09 Thunder Grey Chromaflair a few years ago, but waited for a coupe. Forget the detailing nonsense, get some pullies on that bad boy.

Haha, its not stock :dblthumb2: runs low 11's at our local 1/4 mile track. Should pull a 10 with some decent weather and a nice radial.

Sorry, I'm joining a little late on this one... First off, welcome to AGO and second, beautiful car. Let us know your progress on it. My eye also was caught on your previous car, the lsx foxbody. If you wouldn't mind I would love seeing a few pics of that and a few details. Thanks!

Can't really tell from my pic, but mine is sitting on Nitto NT-05R Drag Radials. I went 11.80's stock with the radial. Hoping to go low 10's next year with a little dope. :dblthumb2:

and have a beveled-curved outer edge which I like also.

Because of the beveled edge, the actual diameter of the face of the pad is right about 4.5" - reduced diameter size means better rotation at least with the stiffer pads abut that's where it counts.

Probably going to do a test spot with the tangerine pad and the uber compound to see what results I yield.

If you run into any kind of problems or after doing the test spot have any questions, be sure to post them...

Will do sir. Thank you again for all of the help. Should I start with that tangerine/uber mix or should I use a lighter compound to start? This paint is hard to take snap shots of the swirls, but they are very light...

Very nice. I want to port the blower, but for now, I am more than happy with how quick it is. I honestly just like cruising in it. Its so comfortable and just a blast to drive.

I literally just sold it about a month and a half ago to a cool guy in SC who's going to "finish it." (paint, cage, drag brakes)

Car had a really simple setup. Lq9 block, 6.0 Wiseco pistons, H beam rods, worked 799 heads with a nice valve train. LS6 cam and intake, and a Precision PT88 with a 1 off turbo kit that was built using truck manifolds.

It had a built TH400 from JW transmission, with a PTC converter, their transbrake, valvebody, etc. All UPR suspension, Modified UPR K member, perfect interior, rust free body, full aeromotive fuel system, ALKY control kit, etc.

With the car tuned on 14 lbs conservatively it made 608 rwhp, and with 3lbs more made 700. We were trying to hit 8's without going higher on power. On the lower boost setting the car went 6.1@120 in the 1/8. So it will definitely run a high 8 sec pass on the 17lb setting.

But, it wasn't really fun to drive. So the wife and I talked, I sold it for a little more than what I had into it, and picked a V up. Worked out really well.:props:

Those LSX setups are getting more common though. If you head over to yellowbullet, there are guys running mid 8's with stock short blocks and more boost. They just take a beating!

Bad ass. What do you have done to yours?

Another V owner here.:xyxthumbs:

Car ran 10.8 @ 127 with an upper pulley, tune, hx, injectors and ported snout/throttle body.

Just had a cam, lower pulley and exhaust put on but I haven't run it yet in this configuration.

Sweet! I'm falling in love more and more with Ls swapped foxbody's. Some call it a crime, I call it cheap and fast! Looks great and thanks for the info.

the car is all cleaned up and clayed. should I go with the uber compound and a tangerine pad to do my first test spot or go with the finishing glaze and the tangerine pad?

swirls and scratches are minimal but I want to do this right..

My guess is the Finishing Glaze won't do the job effectively enough or fast enoug as it's a fine cut polish.

I'd start by testing the Uber Compound with the polishing pad. Good cut from the abrasives, less aggressive cut from the pad, might be a match made in heaven for this paint system.

Keep us updated...

:xyxthumbs:

the polishing pad as in the red crimson pad or the white one that comes with the machine?

tangerene with the uber looks good! what do I go to next? the finishing glaze and what pad, or straight to the sealant?

so to clarify...

finishing glaze gets what pad?

the paint sealant gets what pad?

I have tangerene, cyan, and crimson pads currently until Thursday.
thank you!!!!

I'm not familiar with these pads, but as you progress in polishing finer, you move to softer and less aggressive pads.

Hi Steve,

Most of us would follow the Uber Compound with the Finishing Glaze and a softer foam finishing pad like the Crimson pad.

While the paint might look great after the Uber compound step the reality is there's probably some haziness if you now how to look for it. Maybe not but if this was a clearcoated black car it would probably show and that means if it happens on clearcoated black paint then it happens on all clearcoated colors it's just your eyes can't easily see it.

Make sense?

I even followed Uber Compound with Wolfgang Finishing Glaze on the red Porsche I buffed out even though to my eyes the paint looked perfect after the Uber compound.

Read through my process here...

Lady in Red - 1986 Porsche - 4-Step Process

Results from Wolfgang Uber Compound

I took these shots after compounding with Uber Compound and BEFORE machine polishing with the Wolfgang Finishing Glaze. To me the paint looked ready to wax...

After the pictures like you see above here's what I posted...

Wolfgang Finishing Glaze

After compounding, I re-polished each panel using Wolfgang Finishing Glaze.

Didn't take any pictures as it looked as good as it does above.

And if you ask me... the paint in the pictures looks pretty good, at least in garage lighting.

Keep up the good work and keep us up to date!
