Had a couple spare days so I decided to jewel my wife's Camaro with my Flex 3401. Using a DA for jeweling has been discussed on here a few times, but until now I have never tried my hand at it. Well the car needed a little PDR after our son tipped a bike into the fender. Since I had to buff the scratch out I figured I'd go all out with it. Sorry, no before pics, but the car wasn't in bad shape.

The products used:
Blackfire SRC Compound w/LC CCS pink
Blackfire SRC Polish w/LC CCS white
Menzera SF4500 w/LC CCS gold (jeweling step)
Blackfire wet ice over fire kit.

Overall, I think the car came out very nice with a wet look. As for jeweling with the Flex 3401, I was fairly impressed with the results. The biggest complaint, which anyone who owns the Flex 3401 knows, is that it likes to walk at slower speeds. After breaking the Menzera down at speed 6 for a couple passes I dropped the speed down to 3-4 for the final pass. Controlling the Flex at that slower speed while trying not to apply pressure for the final pass or two was a bit difficult. That made this project a little more labor intensive than I would have liked.

Your wife's car looks fantastic.

And I sure do agree on the slow speed issue with the Flex "PC"

When I am jeweling I use my Flex Rotary with a black pad with Menzerna. Slowest speed and very little pressure and most finishes come out looking like a mirror. it just takes a while.

Wow looks incredible!

What size pads were you using?

Thanks. As for the pads, I was using 6.5", most of my 5.5" pads were drying from a couple recent jobs, so I reached back on the shelf and pulled the 6.5" pads out. The work pretty good with the Flex anyway, would have been a little easier to control with the 5.5".

Total detail, engine, interior, and exterior was about 16 hours.

car looks great. I love that color!
Wish I could paint correct something for someone around here...lol

Thanks, it was an enjoyable project for the most part. The weather was nice and my wife wanted to take her baby out so she was complaining about me starting it when I did. At least when a customer drops their car off they know when they will get it back and don't bug you every time you stop to grab a sandwich!

Wow great job. As soon as it warms up here it will be time to do my wife's car

I'll be doing some jeweling soon on my car, black one at that.
My rotary will be used for this task:)

Definitely an easier way to do it! Although the results were nice, my shoulders are sore from working the Flex.

Looks great with a deep, wet shine. Love that color. My buddy Rene has one that color and we used it in one of our videos plus did a show car makeover to it here at AG.

Here's one of your pictures, I uploaded it into your gallery so it could be inserted, so much easier to "see" when pics are inserted instead of attached.

Now that looks good!

Just to note, the walking effect is dramatically reduced by switching to a smaller diameter pad.

Thanks Mike! Yeah, I need to start uploading into the gallery. I should have switched to the smaller pads, but I decided to start the project with 6.5" and being bullheaded I stuck with them throughout (except in the tight spots where I used 3" on my PC).

Not bad for a 4 year old car, but the main thing with this detail is that I was able to remove all of the damage caused by my son tipping the bike into the fender. I thought his mom was going to lose it when she saw what he did....HE OWES ME BIG TIME!

That color looks stunning!

Nice shine, Jeweling ? Something different ? I'm new here... Thanks....
