Car lift

I don't want a lift with posts (see original link). It just needs to lift the car off the ground enough so I don't have to sit on the floor to detail the lower panels, etc. Its not for doing mechanical work on the vehicle.

One of the other advantages of my 4 post lift is that I have two rolling jacks. When I clean and coat the wheels I just remove them which allows me complete access to the barrels and allows me to do a very thorough job without having to reach though the face. Once you have a lift you may find other uses.

Buy a decent list, the price differences are negligible for how much convenience and more services you can offer!

I am dreaming about it now.

You can get a good quality lift for as low as 1-1,5k you don't need to spend 2k+, I bought from here if anyone is interested: Finest Car Service And Garage Equipment, got couple of months ago hadn't any problems, seems durable.

BendPak/Ranger make the QuickJack. Originally designed for weekend warrior pit crews to use in the paddocks, it is an ideal solution for quickly getting a car about 20 inches off the ground. The 5000 lb model sells for around $1500 delivered.
