2012 Marthon Blue Hyundai Veloster

Had the pleasure of detailing a Veloster this weekend :) looking at the blue on this car for so long it makes my laguna blue pearl look more on the greenish side lol

1 stage polishing, some spot correction and interior

Products used

Chemicals-
CG citrus wash
CG All clean +
CG NONsense
Sonax Fe wheel cleaner
AutoFinese Iron out
ONR
Stoners glass cleaner
Car pro perl
Sonax Perfect finish
WG Uber compound


Tools-
GG 3" DA
Rupes 21 w/5" BP
LC Orange flat pads 5.5"
LC White flat pad 3.5"
LC Red flat pad 3.5"
Megs MF 3"pads
Ez detail mini brush
Cleanforce 1800 pressure washer
MTM hydro
Mcllouch steamer
2 buckets/grit guards
Megs MF wash mitt
Race glaze brushes
Tire brush
Mothers wheel brush
Dayton Speed brush

LSP-
WGDP sealant
Pinnicle Black oynx tire gel

The car as it arrived










Starting off with the wheels










Car pressure rinsed then foamed with a mix of dawn, apc & citrus wash


Intricate areas followed with APC and a brush




Iron out



Car was then clayed with nano skin clay towel and dried with MF towels.
Driverside revealed buffer trails everywhere




Passenger side only revealed normal wear and tear



Test spot sonax perfect finsh and LC orange flat pads




Called it a night and saved the rest for the next day
 
more of the driver side damage in the sun




Passenger side, no where near as many defects in the paint

Perfect finish didnt quite cut it so i did a couple passes with GG3", fg400 and megs mf

FG400, poly foam pad and some elbow grease


Another spot removal with FG400 and mf pads

not completely gone but much better

Yea it is really blue, especially after taking out the defects it popped even more.

Looking at the paint for so long when I went out for a break and looked at my car it literally looked like a different color lol I've never noticed the Greenish hue on my s2k it brought new meaning to the paints Laguna name hahaha

What kind of process did you use to get the scratches out from behind the door handle? I just bought some Lake Country hand-polishing pads to try and fit in there, but haven't tried them out yet.

Obviously the best way is to take the handle off, but what is the best way to do that without removing it?

I used a yellow polyfoam pad and menzerna FG400 plus fast side to side motion lol

The pics dont show it be the scratches are still but a lot less noticeable, you have to really search and find the right angle with the light to see them
 
That paint looks great! What areas did you use SPF and WG compound (3.0?) vs. FG400? I'm guessing FG400 for just spots that had deeper scratches? I used WG3.0 for the first time (from HateSwirls) this past weekend and it was able to get out some nice scratches and finished down very well on some BMW clear. Not ready to buy as I have the FG400 and really like it as well. Just wondering if and where you may have used the WG.

I like to use the yellow foam pad for under the door handles as well or either 3" MF cutting\polishing pad by hand myself.

Ok, one more, the light you used, is that the single diode LED from HD\Lowes? Looks like it shows the imperfections decently.

Sorry I keep mistaking the wg user compound with Fg400 lol they are such a similar product

fg400 was not used on this car cause I ran out

Spf was used over the entire car, I only used uber compound for under the door handles and a few spot corrections.

Gotta say Spf is another favorite, the cut and finish worked out perfect for the most part on this paint :xyxthumbs:

He was amazed and gave me a big tip :) he even wanted to give me more but that's all the cash he had in his wallet lol

He originally just wanted wash, clay, wax and interior. But after seeing his paint in person I talked him into some paint correction. Glad he decided to go ahead with it :) :buffing:
 
That is a sweet color!

Nice job documenting the damage, your 50/50 shots really show a great improvement.

thank you :) trying to document the progress and take some good pictures is a job in itself lol especially if you only have a camera phone to work with haha
 
Looks great, that is a neat blue. Keep up the good work. I really need to pick up some FG400/WGUC sometime soon....
