Black Camaro '12 - Hood trashed by dealership

Do u think the paint on the Chevy was "hard?" This was the first swirled out Camaro Ive seen.

Wasn't too hard...harder than BMW.
Used RUPES Polisher + Rupes Yellow PAD and SONAX Perfect Finish. The owner just wanted to give some life back to the car, not a showroom finish so we had a win-win scenario with that combo :)

Great turn around!

It is simply amazing how people;


  1. Want a black on black on black car (then don't keep it up).
  2. End up with it trashed out that badly
  3. Think that a BODY SHOP will actually spend the time to do it right the first time. :rolleyes:
Really love how you mapped the paint, (and hopefully keep it in your file for that customer). Better yet, you mapped it WITH A CAMARO outline! Im the MAN

Those 50/50's should go to show everyone, the body shop included, that your services are both needed, and should be rewarded as well! :dblthumb2:
 
Great turn around. The owner may not have wanted new car results, but they sure got them.
 
Wow, hardly any peel. So when a gauge is used and gives the readings, how does one tell how much is cc vs base and what not. Is there a an accepted norm if say the reading is 150, that maybe 30% of that is cc?

That's a good question. I remember seeing in one of Mike's posts that the cc thickness should be around 50 microns (2 mils). Considering a 'healthy' paint measuring 150, then ~30% is cc.

Considering the combo I used on this car, no more than 2 microns were removed.

As Mike pointed out, it is amazing that dealership still produce that kind of work (in these day and age) BUT it is even more mind boggling that some people don't see or accept that kind of workmanship.

Thank goodness we have PLENTY qualified detailers to the rescue. Job well done and thanks for sharing!

Dealerships here in Brazil usually outsource paint jobs to cheapo bodyshops and that's the end result...to bad for a car like this with low mileage.

I'll surely take a look at that SONAX thread.

Nice work looks perfect. Where would I go to get the Pictures prior to measuring paint? I would like to do that prior to my first polish on my ZL1. Thanks in advance.
