I hydro'ed over the OC 2.0 tonight. I will keep everyone posted on how long it lasts.

My initial impression is that Hydro added a significant amount of gloss, but the slickness is not very good. The water pressure at my wash site isn't very good, but I made the best of it by using the jet setting. So, this may be a factor.
 
I have seen reports of some using Sonax BSD on Opti-coat, apparently it works very well

I realize that the instructions say to do that, but why so you need a jet? To ensure that there are no high levels? Residue?

The stronger the water, the better the bonding action.

According to the product page, it works by "hydroelectric bonding," and the pressure from spraying the water will accelerate the bonding process.

I used Hydr02 today on my mother's car, and had access to better water pressure. The end result was a much slicker and glossier finish than last week.
 
Permanon's site is a little different on this subject, but I wonder if getting out the pressure washer after applying Hydro2 would lead to the best results.

Interesting tid bit from Permanon's site:

When Permanon is applied neat (100% concentrate), it is wiped on, this way the Si14 particles are crushed together and do adhere as they are nano-sized. Any physical wiping of neat Permanon rather than just spraying and rinsing will result in ´crushing´the particles together. If sprayed on and rinsed off before wiping they would not bond to each other due to the plus - plus charge repellence.

Based on this information, for maximum UV protection performance spray Permanon at full strength (100% concentrate), then wipe the treated surface with a microfiber cloth to “crush and bond the silicium” into a stronger, thicker layer of protection, followed by rinse and dry.

I've got a 100 mL bottle of Permanon, so I might give this a try in the spring.

I beg to differ on the beading part. Though I guess it depends on your definition of beading. I have had my car coated for about 2 years now, and it barely beads. I have already attempted to rejuvenate it in the past by claying and using a paint cleaner many times and its unfixable; Ive given up trying to make it bead like it used to.

I can tell there IS something there as I havnt waxed my car in two years, and water is fairly easy to remove. We are all familiar with how water just sits on bare paint. Mine doesn't sit like bare paint, but it doesn't bead that well either. It just kind of sheets a bit and has some awkward disfigured beading.

It looks absolutely nothing like what you get with a freshly waxed car. And it absolutely doesn't look anything like it did when first applied(in terms of beading). As far as Im concerned, the beading properties wear off after awhile. Bugs and bird bombs also don't come off easy like they used too.

I have resorted to using spray wax recently to get a slicker surface for ease of cleaning as opti-coat isnt slick enough anymore.
