Thinking about trading in the CR-Z for a Fiat 500 Abarth, thoughts?

I was lucky enough to drive a couple, one an early 60's model and the other from the late 60's. We also had a 68' Aussie spec S model w/ dual carbs and front disc brakes, 90 hp, double the standard car but never took that one on the road, it was that off white w/ ruby red top and cosmo wheels, flawless car! One thing that blows people away is how big the car is inside compared with the outside.

Route 66 in Wilmington Illinois, not too long before I had to turn in the car

Custom R53 I was flown down to W. Palm Beach to pick up, slight detour to the Cherahola Skyway on the way back to Detroit. Bottom of the Skyway here:

As I saw this sign coming around the corner I hit a 30' section of road covered with slushy snow, time to turn around and go back down the hill!

Full Cosworth tune on this car, lots of fun and powerful!

Thanks for looking, just got into looking at old pics of the MINI's in my photobucket and more came out!

The Moke is awesome, but it's not 4WD....

Yeah it was a custom pearl white paint done after delivery of the car, the original owner dumped $30K into the car and it showed!

In some of the pics you see a road in the background, that's the world famous Woodward Avenue outside of Detroit!

That's true enough, I know I'd love to have the entire interior of my car done in black and red Italian leather w/ Alcantera headliner, wonder what that would cost!!

Not as much as you think... there's a great shop 10 minutes from me that could do it and do a fantastic job :dblthumb2:

I'd have my car repainted... top to bottom, and all trim bits replaced new. As much as I try, I'm working backwards with my car. It was a cosmetic mess when I bought it. I've been "restoring" the exterior since I bought it over 2 years ago.

After that? Hmmmmm, not sure. New head, upgraded internals and maybe a TVS or Rotrex to boot :righton:

I would expect the interior job to be $10K, that's a "lotto job" for me, LOL!

Speaking of interior job, the headliner is being replaced this Wednesday, wish me luck!

Damn! You aren't wasting any time :dblthumb2:

Oh no, I'm sorry Monica, this is warranty work, the corner of the A-pillar section has worked itself apart a bit. Luckily I have a buddy who's a service writer for Chrysler so he was able to get the entire headliner replaced instead of them trying to do a "quick fix".

Sorry, got ahead of you there. Well glad it's getting fixed :dblthumb2:

Ok, car is dropped off for the headliner replacement and I'll be picking it up tomorrow. Nice hour drive to the dealership on a beautiful sunny day. OBC is showing 36.5 mpg, love it, talk about having your cake and eating it too!

The car will not be ready till Thursday morning now, I guess they're down a tech, will get a rental car I guess. I hate being without my car, let alone it being there for half of today, all of tomorrow and part of Thursday. I'm really worried about where its going to be parked as far as next to other cars and I specifically told them to NOT WASH THE CAR, I did it before I took it in, even took out my towels and milk crate full of detailing supplies so they didn't have to mess with anything.

Wish me luck everyone, PLEASE!

Not Italian leather, but you can get a Katzkin leather interior for a little over a grand. I'm not sure on their pricing when you go custom though.

How do you like the car so far? I loved it when I drove it, I just wasn't sure if I could live with the exhaust noise everyday.
