Opti coat 2.0 how much ?

I just opti coated my truck, I used about 12 or 13 ccs. I could see the wet trail the pad was leaving.
I was just wandering if this was enough product on my truck.
I did NOT do windows or any trim, just body panels

Sounds a little on the heavy side, but as long as no high spots were left, it can't hurt

I typically use that much on a similar size truck but get all the trim, glass and chrome too. You've been thorough in your application, if you've used a little too much hey...the price of your first lesson.

As was mentioned by The Enforcer, so long as you smoothed down any high spots you're good to go. :xyxthumbs:
 
Always better to go heavier than lighter IMO. You can always remove high spots later.
What were you using as your applicator?

You used more than enough. I typically use about 10cc on a large vehicle.

thanks for the reply's, I used the yellow applicator, and putting it on was a little grabby.
I did one panel at a time and leveled with a microfiber towel.

I thought it would have took more that what I used, but thats great, now I can do the wife's car
 
Anytime I try to use just enough OC2.0 I end up not applying enough to get even coverage. Applying it heavier than I think is necessary allows me to knock down high spots instead of hoping I applied enough. But, I understand the concern behind your post.
 
dchristo, you may want to try to the blue shop towels technique, or a suede MF, to reduce the grabbiness. That may allow you to use the OC a little more sparingly as well.

Maybe your "heavier" is most other's "normal". :)

Applying it heavy and knocking down high spots afterwards is the way too go. If you go too thin, the coating will fail.

However, if you apply it too thick, 2.0 will take a very long time to flash off. So when you go to remove the high spots, you will get smearing.

As long as possible. The coating takes at least 30 days to fully harden. And until it fully hardens, it can be marred very easily.
 
One thing that isn't spoken about much is not letting water spots stay on the vehicle while in the sun during the curing period. Had a client let that happen on his black Tundra. I found out the hard way.:)
