Did anyone receive any Limited Edition Grinch Wax by Blackfire this season?

I did and mine is #28. Does anyone anticipate these being worth any more money than originally priced or was it just a novelty item?

Also is this a nice good wax and should I use it?

Is this a joke? These aren't baseball cards or Beannie Babies. I'm only kidding. I seriously doubt this will ever increase in value. In fact I bet it has decreased.

Wax is a depreciating asset (technically a liability). The chance of it being worth more than it was when purchased is 0.0001%.

Haha,

I'm not the one that sold them and had them numbered and signed by Max. That's a good one. Hey you never know.

:applause:

Wax is only worth what you can sell it for - and that is usually much less than you paid for it. I can't recall ANY detailing product that sells 2nd hand more than it does new.

That being said, thanks for this thread, as I own this wax, stuck it in a drawer, and forgot I even had it. Maybe archeologists will dig it up one day and think its some type of fossil from a primitive civilization that worshipped the Grinch.

So you are saying that this wax is not even worth using?

Anyone ever use this or their products?

No. I'm not saying that at all. I'm sure it's awesome. All BF stuff usually is. I'm just saying I have so much wax I haven't even tried yet I can't keep track of what I have.

I'll use it one day.

Oh ok. I was just wanting some opinions on it.

Thanks!

The wax is good, but not top of the line (exclusive formulation with rare components) It was put together as a limited edition wax for the holidays and (according to AG) will not be in production again. You may never see it again under this name or marketing labeling but may have the same wax re-branded for another promotional push somewhere down the line.

Is the wax worth using, Yup! Will it give you a certain holiday spirit while applying it and/or a Christmas morning excitement when looking at the results...... I seriously doubt it!

As far as a collector item, I agree with the previous statement that it is more of a liability than an asset. Wax do break down overtime.

I do have two of them in my office, along with other waxes. They are cool but definitely not part of an investment strategy!

I have this wax as well. ( haven't used it yet as Im mostly coating right now) By no means is it a collector's Item. Just a cool Promo Holiday wax.

OP. Break it open and give it a shot . Take some Pics and Post your thoughts on the product. :props:

Thanks. I will do just that! Whenever the weather breaks.

Got a brand new Porter cable 7424xp I'm dying to use. Plus a new(to me at least ) 2012 Volkswagen CC that's is in dire need of some attention.

I'm assuming you tried it???

Yup!! Quality PBMG product and good results but no revolutionary wax. I like the Rudolf wax for smell over the Grinch (which is a little more industrial smelling). As for application and removal they were about the same and longevity was that I have seen of other PBMG hybrid waxes. I know nothing about the formulation but their quick haze and easy removal plus I saw about 2 weeks longevity in the harsh Southern temp/humidity, is pretty typical of hybrid waxes.

I liked using this wax on an white Audi tt. It looks great a month later so its a nice wax to use and leaves a great finish.

It does have a chemical smell as is not as pleasant as sleigh wax or ginger bread but as its a limited edition one its a nice buy.

Actually the wax is worth more in the uk so it is possible to make a few bucks not that I will as I use these on my family's cars only

IMO:

The bottom line on buying a "collector" car wax, as an investment, is just the same as in buying anything "collector" (cars, for example). That is, to say:

-Don't spend more than you can afford in the hopes of making a profit.

-Chances are the "collector" item(s) may not appreciate over time.
(Boom or Bust, it seems)

However:
Isn't it more important that you appreciate the "collector" item(s)...
while you have the time?

The only waxes that may have any extra value is DoDo stuff. Like if I wanted I know I could sell my GoldenDoDo Jar if I wanted to for a slight profit. Just because of the mystery if my slightly used jar has the dodo! I would never do it, but I've seen dodo hard cores snag rare stuff.

Let me clarify. Why are so many people crazy about their waxes? Are they that much better compared to others?

They make a large variety of waxes and have made a lot of small batch runs in the past. Color charging the wax seems to ad to the appeal of the product. Combine that with their marketing, naming, and boutique type labels - and you have a product a handful of people find "collectible" or desirable.

But, the waxes are good stuff.
