Iron-X

I got the Dodo Juice after seeing the test Ryan linked us to. Smell wise of the Dodo - it definitely doesn't smell pleasant, but its not extremely strong and won't stink up a garage. I do it as a hobby, so I expect to use it 1 or 2 times a year on my personal vehicles. Haven't used it yet but plan to hopefully sometime next week.

The "test" seems skewed to me for two reasons that puts IronX at a disadvantage.

1) The working time of the others was slow and therefore IronX had to sit on the vehicle longer than it would if one were using only IronX

2) the scent/fragrance factor gives dodo an edge over IronX due to a "factor" that really is immaterial (unless the scent is SO bad it is counterproductive to getting work done).

I took interest in this thread because I just bought some IronX and for a $3 difference in price per liter I'd rather have the product that performs stronger in what it is meant to do. Seems that's what I'm paying for.

^yea I almost did the same. But what went into my decision is the test said the dodo juice ended up doing the same or very close but it had to be left on longer. So for a smell that doesn't make my nose burn or make my garage reak for days, I figured I would just let it soak for longer. But iron x is faster and definitely the strongest for it's intended purpose, as the test showed.

The nice part about Todd's tests is that he breaks down why he is awarding the points into categories, rather than just a lump score at the end. For example, he was doing a wheel cleaner test and gave points to how well it cleaned tires. This is not important to me since I use a dedicated tire cleaner (Tuf Shine), so I was able to just subtract out those points. In fact, I made a comment in the thread that it was an unnecessary category.

If you ask Todd directly, I'm sure he would be more than happy to tell you how he came to the conclusions and I would guess that he would redo any test to eliminate any of the skew that you have commented about.

I don't know if Iron-X sitting on the paint would decreases the effectiveness. Avi from CarPro commented about the test and I don think he brought up anything that alleged that the effectiveness was diminished. I'm with you that the scent is not a big factor, but for many it is, and I understand that it played a role in his test. Todd isn't trying to rig any test for one company. He is a stand up guy and first-class detailer, and is just trying to spread truth about the products. :props:

I meant no offense. I was just commenting on how the results were interpreted by me. I greatly appreciate Todd's test and the many others here that do these things. I wish more people would evaluate products like this and state their detailed opinions/results. I do this as well, but for other things (non-detailing related - I'm totally new to detailing), as well as host/admin forums.

When I use Iron X in my garage, I have a small fan that I use to circulate air. Yeah it stinks, but mainly when spraying. Just my observation.
