Hi Everyone,

Recently started buying some products from Autogeek's Amazon store (very happy with the products and service) and thought that I would post some pics and some details of me cleaning up my Volvo S60 after a recent winter storm we had up here in PA.

So I decided that I wanted to change things up a bit and give some of the Zymol products a try. I ended up purchasing Zymol Auto Wash, Zymol HD-Cleanse, Zymol Titanium Wax/Glaze, and Zymol Detailing Spray. Later on I will post some more in depth information regarding each product and what I thought of them, but for now just the steps on the process that I used and some before and after pics.

Step One.
Started out by washing the car down using the Zymol Auto Wash and a two bucket wash system.

Step Two.
Followed that up by drying the car off with a Cobra Supreme Guzzler, of course spraying the car with the Zymol Detailing Spray to help prevent scratches while drying.

Step Three.
After the car was completely dry and clean I then proceeded to use the Zymol HD-Cleanse.

Step Four.
Applied the Zymol Titanium Wax/Glaze.

Step Five.
Waited about 2 hours and then wiped down the whole car with the Zymol Detailing Spray.

Check out the pictures and let me know what you think! I will post more information later on regarding the Zymol products and what I thought of them along with how I used them exactly.

Thank you, dealing with the road salt in PA can be a handful.

Yep, RI is no better! I was thrilled to hear of the road salt shortage! Lol!

Those pictures were taken about two weeks ago and we got more snow today so my clean car is no more... I will clean it up next weekend.

Good turn around. My Volvo XC60 looks even worse now and I didn't wash it this weekend. Sigh....

Thanks, What year is your XC60? How do you like it? I only have about 15k miles on my S60, but so far I love it!!!

It's a 2011 R Design in Black Metallic Sapphire. I like it. The Haldex system does amazing in the snow. Better than the 4 Motion system that was in my Touareg we traded in.

Very Nice, I opted for the FWD S60 as I wanted to maximize MPG... At the time when I did it I was worried about how the car would do in the snow, but I must say that it handles the snow better then my AWD SUV did and better then my brothers Jeep Wrangler and Subaru WRX. I can only imagine how well the AWD system would be.

Better than subaru Wrx? Maybe on summer tires on Wrx and winters on Volvo. Even then questionable. But if on same tires than your convincing yourself. I've owned many cars and subarus awd system is king in snow...

^^^ Now while i agree that it prolly doesnt do better than Subie WRX, Subaru AWD is not the "king" in snow. Tires and drivers make a huge difference.

Ok..polaris is.. I'll give you that. Unless you have specifics??

As stated....tires and driver make a difference .
If you were to crown a "king".....prolly Audi Quattro IMO.
But there is Subarus.....4 Motion VW.....Haldex VW.....Mitsubishi AWD....Jeep 4x4.....etc

Should have provided more information in regards to this in my original post, my apologies.

When I look to see how well a car does in the snow I like to look at a few different situations... See below.

For the sake of argument lets just say that, both cars are running decent all season tires.

Take Off,
For example starting off at a red light. In this situation I found that the Subaru hands down was much better then the FWD Volvo, no argument there.

Panic Braking,
For example rapid heavy braking for instance someone pulls out in front of you. In this situation I found that both vehicles engaged the ABS system, no surprise there. However I found that in the Subaru the tires would often lock completely whereas on the Volvo the ABS system was able to perform in such a way that it prevented any wheel lock thus still allowing me to have full steering of the car. This can be very important as if you can not stop the car at least you can slow the car and steer around an object rather then hitting it, wheel lock can prevent you from doing this.

Accelerating While Turning,
For example accelerating up a curved on ramp. Once again this was a situation that was handled much better by the Subaru WRX. The AWD system was able to shift power where it was needed and where the grip was to get you around the turn whereas the FWD Volvo did not have this ability.

Straight Line Stability,
For example driving down the road in a straight line at a steady speed and suddenly losing grip with the surface. I found the Subaru was not able to react as quickly as the Volvo could in preventing this situation... The Volvo tends to react to this type of loss of grip much faster then that of the Subaru however that being said I will say that I never felt as if I was out of control in the Subaru.

I think that ultimately driving in the snow comes down to driving ability, personal preference, and lastly the ability's of the car, in that order. That being said I think that the Subaru is a very good vehicle in the snow and that when driven by a skilled driver is much more capable then the FWD Volvo S60 and maybe even the AWD Volvo S60 (I have not drove one of those).

To crown a king I would have to say that it would be the Volvo and the Audi. There are a lot of reviews for "best winter cars" out on the internet, do a quick Google search, but typically the Audi's and Volvo's come out on top. Also a lot of people don't know this, but the Haldex AWD system is used in a lot of cars including some of the Audi's. I have attached a link here to the Wikipedia Page that lists all of the cars that are using the Haldex AWD System.

No idea why, but I cant get the link to work for Wikipedia I pasted the list of cars that use it below if you want to find the original page Google "Haldex AWD" and check out the Wikipedia page.
